8 FEB 2021 · The name "sx̌ʷəbabš" or "sx̌ʷəbabš Swift Water Elementary". Has been suggested as one of the possibilities for our new Elementary School #9 (across from the YMCA). Our area has a rich Native American history that has been inadequately recognized and some folks have no idea at all that Gig Harbor was one of the main village sites of the sx̌ʷəbabšis, a familial band of the Puyallup Tribe.
