Look mom, I joined the marines

Look mom here is my enlistment papers,
It won't be long now
Since I will be shipped off like dad and his dad
One was called the greatest generation.
And the other
I don't know anyhow
My brothers went to Nam;
Of them, I'm very proud.
And me, it going to be
Afghanistan
I'm going to get those Arab
pieces of junk,
the radical ones,
the terrorist not the innocent.
Look mom,
I'm writing you a letter;
In it is a picture of me with my buddies.
It's been hard here;
they make us exercise all day.
To make us strong, for the fight ahead
every day we loose a comrad but we still have to keep our heads high
One of the officers, said I might have what it takes.
Tell dad, I will visit soon since
I'm graduating and also shipping out
To the Middle East-
Exactly where I wanted to be.
MA!
We are going to kick some royal ass
Tell dad I love him.
I wish he would talk to me and put aside our differences.
Tell my brothers and sister too
Just you wait until you see my uniform,. It's
pretty awesome, Ma,
Since I Joined the Marines,
I'm so happy I can barely contain myself
You know, so many guys did not make the cut; only the very good ones.
Hi mom, I have been here for a few months now,
And I'm sorry I have not written,
I just did not feel like it.
Well, I got my fill of action
And it wasn't what I expected.
MA,
I lost a few friends.
It really hurts me.
MA, I killed people, no biggie, it's part of the job,
but I don't like it.
Tell dad I love him .
Tell my sibling to.
Hello, Ma, it's me, I wrote this letter before going out on a mission.
It's been a while I'm in hospital , MA
They say I'm in bad shape, but I know I will put out of it.
Someone threw a grenade and it was pure mayhem
kind of hurt me, Ma.
The are not sure I will ever walk.
Tell my girl, it's ok if she does not want to see me again.
sicne i will never be whole again
They are sending me home, MOM
But I won't be saying much, mom
since I can no longer speak for myself.
they say all in due time
They put aside a place for me, Ma
They say it's very pretty.
Let everyone know they can visit me,
And tell dad, I'm very proud of him
and how brave he was once, and now I understand.
I'm just not sure if I made him proud,
but I did the best I could,
of this I'm sure.
I hear a bugle, MA
I never did like that song.
Say hello to dad one last time.
And please tell him I love him.
And this place they set aside well, I'm not ready utilize it
No, not just yet
You see im still fighting for my life
here on the ground
and im just not ready to give up
