Lorne is President Emeritus of the ArtCenter of Design in Pasadena, California and international leader in art and design education. He is also a theater director, dramatic literature professor and the author of a book on filmic adaptions of Shakespeare’s plays. Lorne previously served on the faculty of University of California, Berkeley. He left that position to become president of California College of the Arts and later Saybrook University. When we think about bringing our best selves forward in alignment with our overall well-being, stress management is top of mind. Dr. Jeremy Jamieson invites us to look at and manage our stress in new ways. Jeremy is an associate professor of Psychology at the University of Rochester and serves as the Principal Investigator of the Social Stress Lab. He is also a Harvard university graduate and postdoctoral fellow and holds a PHD in social psychology from Northeastern university and a Bachelor’s degree in in Psychology with a concentration in neuroscience. His research focuses on social stress and decision making, risk and uncertainty, among other topics. Jeremy and Lori chat about acute social stress situations and how we can shift our mind-set and thoughts to improve our decision making and performance. The labs’ research projects have been funded by Fortune 100 companies, government agencies and educational institutions. As Gregg writes, a calling may be to do something (change careers, go back to school, leave or start a relationship, move to the country, begin a business, have a child), or to be something (more creative, less judgmental, more loving). They explore the nature of callings and purpose and how they show up. You never know when you may be called toward whatever you have dared or double-dared yourself to do for as long as you can remember. Gregg Levoy is the author of Vital Signs: The Nature and Nurture of Passion, and Callings: Finding and Following An Authentic Life–rated among the "Top 20 Career Publications" by the Workforce Information Group and text in various graduate programs in Management and Organizational Leadership. He is a former "behavioral specialist" at USA Today, and a regular blogger for Psychology Today. In addition to being a writer, author and speaker, Gregg was a former adjunct professor of journalism at the University of New Mexico. He was also a former columnist and reporter for USA Today and the Cincinnati Enquirer, and author of This Business of Writing. He has written for the New York Times Magazine, Washington Post, Omni, Psychology Today, Christian Science Monitor, Fast Company, Reader’s Digest, and many others, as well as for corporate, promotional and television projects.
