Your Beliefs System And The Coronaviru

  • Our Beliefs and the Coronavirus

24 MAY 2020 · Our thoughts and opinions on the coronavirus are being determined by our personal political and religious beliefs. What facts we choose to accept, discount, or ignore and whom we choose to put our faith and confidence in are too. Be aware of this. And be aware that everyone does this, even the agnostic, the atheist, and the apolitical.

Our political and religious belief systems have been revealed by the coronavirus. To demonstrate this, let’s take a look at some of the key issues, questions, and concerns that we are currently dealing with in regards to the virus. Do we really need to wear a mask or not and how effective are they? Does social distancing work? The lock down and quarantine, what will be the harmful and long-lasting impacts on our lives and our livelihood. Even the severity of the coronavirus itself comes into question when it is realized that the survival rate for the virus is in the 99 percentiles.

All of these questions and concerns have come under scrutiny by the general public. Clear cut lines of division have been drawn, separating this country into one camp or another. One side believes, the other doesn’t. One side endorses, the other doesn’t. Whatever is being discussed, one side is yea, the other nay. These lines so closely parallel the lines of political beliefs that if you know someone’s politics, it’s safe to say that you’ll be able to determine where they stand on all of these coronavirus issues.

Here’s an example of what I’m talking about. The international academic publication called, “The Conversation” reports of a YouGov study that found about 86% of Republicans trusted President Trump “somewhat-to-very much” to effectively handle the pandemic whereas only 10% of Democrats do. Conversely, about 70% of Democrats trust the World Health Organization (WHO) “somewhat-to-very much” whereas only meager 25% of Republicans do.

Show me your politics and I’ll show you what you think about the coronavirus. And if you know someone’s politics, it’s also safe to say you have a handle on their religious beliefs as well. Catholics are overwhelmingly Democrat while Charismatic Christians Republicans.

But here’s the point. The coronavirus, this pandemic is no longer a public health issue. It is a political issue. The Left and the Democrats and the right and the Republicans have drawn a line in the sand establishing their own beliefs and positions on the virus. Each side offers their own unique solutions to the virus. Each side is faulting the other side for any shortcomings, be they real or perceived.

Who can forget Rahm Emanuel’s infamous statement back in 2008 during a Wall Street Journal interview when he said, “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that [is] it's an opportunity to do things that you think you could not before.”
Rahm Emmanuel was President Obama’s Chief of Staff.

The coronavirus has become the ultimate crisis being used to the benefit of both political parties, as well as government, industry, and organizations.

This is dangerous people. Public Health, our health is now a political football, being kicked back and forth between the two political parties, the Democrats and the Republicans. Their primary objective is a political win and election victory, not our health and safety. The coronavirus is just a vehicle being used to win the political war.
