TSM wins because of controller? Aim Assist debate starts again!

9 FEB 2023 · Blackphantasm rambles about Apex Legends players have, once again, ignited calls for a nerf to aim assist after TSM’s Phillip ‘ImperialHal’ Dosen claimed MVP honors at the 2023 ALGS Split 1 playoffs. The war between controller and mouse and keyboard players has been raging for quite some time, but it’s gotten incredibly heated when it comes to Apex Legends. Both sides believe the other has an advantage, and for some anti-controller players, that was only cemented back in November, when https://www.dexerto.com/apex-legends/apex-legends-players-demand-aim-assist-nerf-as-controller-pros-dominate-algs-1985195/ At the time, the top 14 for kills was dominated by controller players, as only two mouse and keyboard users forced their way onto the leaderboard for overall kills in North America. ImperialHal, https://www.dexerto.com/apex-legends/imperialhal-reveals-best-apex-legends-controller-settings-in-attempt-to-get-it-nerfed-1987440/, and kept dominating in Apex, managed to climb the mountain with his TSM squad at thehttps://www.dexerto.com/apex-legends/algs-2023-split-1-playoffs-schedule-format-stream-2022716/, as they claimed top spot and a $300k payday. Apex Legends players want aim assist nerf after ALGS finalsHal, himself, took home the MVP award, and even gave a shout-out to his controller in his post-event interview. Though, his success has only hammered home the calls for a tweak to aim assist. “Literally the best players in the world get an advantage from controller aim assist. This tells you all you need to know about how broken it is at lower levels of play,” said one Redditor off the back of Hal’s success. “The “Just use roller if it’s so OP” argument can be retired now,” added another. Also rambles on about cheating devices, xim, cronus emulators mnk on controller. Thanks for listening, if you have a question send a email to: Diemiz_forever@hotmail.com to be featured on the podcast

    Respawn Deletes My Reddit Post

25 JAN 2023 · Black Phantasm talks about APEX LEGENDS MATCHMAKING UPDATE, and a reddit post critiziing it that was deleted, The following is a discusion of the latest sbmm update: We are the matchmaking team on Apex Legends and today we are sharing a bit of insight into Apex Legends’ matchmaking. This blog is written by a cross-discipline team representative of Respawn’s efforts to improve your matchmaking experience. We're led by Samy Duc, Technical Director (@ricklesauceur).Matchmaking is a big and complicated topic that is highly discussed in our community. We have recently made changes to matchmaking that players may have noticed, and we are here to talk about it. In this dev blog, we’ll explore: - https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legends/news/matchmaking-2023#what-is-matchmaking - https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legends/news/matchmaking-2023#what-do-we-use - https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legends/news/matchmaking-2023#future-of-matchmaking - https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legends/news/matchmaking-2023#common-questions We are about to go into a deep dive into matchmaking, so if you’d like a quick summary, here are some main takeaways: - Apex Legends currently makes matches using your pre-made party’s best player’s skill rating, and our system does consider your pre-made squad’s size when matching you with opponents. - We are working toward creating fairer matches compared to today as you play with friends of different skill levels. - We are in the process of retiring our old Skill Based Matchmaking (SBMM) system for a new one that more accurately groups our players based on skill, and thus lets our matchmaking algorithm make better decisions when forming groups. The end goal is to create fairer matches and experiences that are more fun for all. We are continuously testing and iterating on our matchmaking systems in the live game to figure out what works best. In fact, many changes have already been tested and rolled out in various regions for Ranked and regular Pub games. And, we’re not done – you can expect more matchmaking refinements to come in the near future.
