Weather From Oz

  • Weather Or Whatever #1: June 8 1966 Topeka Tornado

8 JUN 2020 · June 8, 1966 dawned hot and humid for Topeka, Kansas. By sunset, 17 were dead and over 500 injured in (what was then) the worst tornado - and the most costly - as a mile-wide twister cut the capitol city of Kansas in two. I recently spoke to my mother, Carolyn regarding her trip back from her hometown of Jefferson City, MO and how she very nearly didn't make it home. A harrowing, but hopeful, trip into the past on this edition of #WeatherOrWhatever.
