  • 007 - The Power of Building Relationships & Providing Good Services with Sherry Boyer

15 APR 2024 · Go to https://4dayprofitrace.com/ to get my FREE 4-DAY DIAGNOSTIC COURSE and be ahead of 90% of small business owners in the world! In episode 07, I'll be delving into the fascinating psychology behind purchasing services versus products within the realm of dog businesses. Given my extensive experience as a 7-figure entrepreneur in this niche, I'm eager to share insights that could revolutionize your approach to running a successful dog business. It all started when someone in a Facebook group asked for a recommendation on a CRM (customer relationship management). When my friend suggested they consider my CRM solution, it sparked a realization of the contrast in how services versus products are perceived and acquired. When it comes to products, consumers often seek simplicity - they compare prices, evaluate features, and then make a purchase. But with services, it's about more than just transactional interactions; it's about fostering relationships, understanding unique needs, and delivering tailored solutions. Rather than simply providing a link to my CRM, I engaged a conversation, seeking to understand the person's requirements. However, what transpired was eye-opening. Instead of embracing this personalized approach, group members fixated on obtaining a quick link, treating the service-based purchase like a commodity off the shelf. Consider this, When was the last time you hired a service provider solely based on a listed price? Likely never. Service-based transactions need trust, rapport, and a good understanding of the client's needs - qualities that cannot be encapsulated in a price tag. Similarly, in the dog industry, services such as grooming and training demand personalized attention tailored to each dog's requirements. Only displaying prices on a website fails to capture the essence of these tailored services and undermines the value of genuine connections. Embrace the transformative power of relationship-building in your dog business endeavors. By engaging in meaningful conversations, understanding clients' needs, and delivering exceptional service, you enhance the customer experience and position yourself as a trusted authority in your field. While the idea of interacting with clients may seem intimidating, it's the foundation of building a thriving and sustainable dog business. It's not about undercutting prices but delivering unparalleled value and forging lasting connections with your clients. Listen to this episode to discover how reimagining your approach to selling services can unlock untapped potential in your dog business. Embrace the power of genuine connections and watch as your business blooms in the ever-evolving landscape of the dog industry. • 006 - Outdated Pricing Tactics That Are Hurting Dog Businesses with Sherry Boyer

2 APR 2024 · Go to https://4dayprofitrace.com/ to get my FREE 4-DAY DIAGNOSTIC COURSE and be ahead of 90% of small business owners in the world! In episode 06, we’re going to talk about Outdated Pricing Tactics That Are Hurting Dog Businesses. Drawing on my experience building a 7-figure dog business, I have strong opinions on the pricing mistakes commonly made in our industry. Too many business owners are basing rates on outdated tactics from years ago or misguided feelings about what clients will pay. I cringe when clients undervalue themselves with lowball pricing like my own $25 per day daycare and $35 per night boarding rates back in 2007. That's practically giving services away! I was effectively sabotaging myself by charging the same $50 for an overnight or two full days of daycare. I remember I visited over 100 boarding kennels and based my rates on what others charged. However, soon enough I learned that the information I got from those visits was not reliable. Why? Because you have no idea if those places are even profitable or if they are just a hobby. Big mistake! When I finally realized my error and revamped my pricing structure to properly value overnight boarding, my revenues instantly tripled without more dogs. The right prices are that transformative! Yet I still see audiences full of dog professionals charging a measly $45 or less per night for boarding. That's less than a basic hotel room! As trained experts providing professional care and enrichment, our rates should be substantially higher. One boarding client went from $65 per night up to $210 PER DAY for in-home stays as she realized her true value. Shockingly, demand didn't stop - people happily paid premium prices for premium service and convenience. The fear of "pricing people out" is a mindset trap. We don't decide what pet owners will pay - THEY make that choice based on priorities and budgets. Our job is to confidently present our value and let clients self-select if it fits, not pre-judge for them. A keynote quote rocked my world years ago: "You could double prices, lose half your clients, and STILL make more money." Whoa! Are you afraid to lose the clients who don't value you appropriately? I'd argue those aren't the ones you want. That's why I stopped offering multiple dog discounts, an outdated relic from kennel days of packing multiple dogs into runs. If you're providing individual care and space per dog, why would you discount for more? You're working harder, not less! Listen to this episode if you want to escape the overworked, underpaid rut. Don't stay still or race to the bottom. Value-based pricing allows you to finally earn what you deserve while delivering an impeccable, sought-after experience. Remember! • 005 - Boosting Your Website SEO with Sherry Boyer

4 MAR 2024 · Go to https://4dayprofitrace.com/ to get my FREE 4-DAY DIAGNOSTIC COURSE and be ahead of 90% of small business owners in the world! In episode 05, I'm tackling the controversial topic of SEO services being sold to dog businesses. Drawing on my experience building a 7-figure company, I have strong opinions on this! SEO has changed, but many providers are still using outdated tactics from 5-10 years ago. I hate when clients get ripped off paying $300-$350 a month for so-called "SEO" that is basically just uploading their written article as a blog post. That's not expert-level SEO! Proper SEO must include many signals, not just blog articles. I help clients escape these pointless contracts so they can spend their money more effectively. Google's algorithm has evolved. Key factors now are your Google Business Profile and overall website authority. Local SEO relies more on a robust GBP with good reviews and keywords. But many SEO companies still push ineffective blog posts and outdated tactics. I get it - years ago everyone thought SEO meant writing a lot of articles. But Google is smarter now. Don't pay for tricks that were clever in 2005 but are irrelevant today. Always beware when providers sell the service they specialize in. Proper SEO does require regular updates and maintenance. But basic WordPress upkeep is quick. Don't fall for unclear "maintenance" fees. Make sure you're getting real value for the premium price of SEO. I help clients optimize their site and GBP themselves with my proven approach. For ongoing SEO, find experts who actually stay updated on Google's algorithm and new local search factors. I'm always researching the latest tactics that work so you don't waste money on dated techniques. Don't cling to a bad SEO contract out of fear. I can help you boost search visibility yourself with targeted efforts like GBP optimization, reviews, link-building, speed, and real authority-building content. You'll get more traction without meaningless blog posts or shady SEO gimmicks. Listen to this episode and take control of your SEO and stop throwing money away on autopilot contracts. Invest instead in high-impact activities focused on Google's current algorithm. Remember! • 004 - The Total Con Job of Pretty & Bad Websites with Sherry Boyer

19 FEB 2024 · Go to https://4dayprofitrace.com/ to get my FREE 4-DAY DIAGNOSTIC COURSE and be ahead of 90% of small business owners in the world! Welcome to another episode of the Thriving Dog Business podcast! In episode 04, I'm tackling the controversial topic of website design for service-based businesses like dog training, boarding, and daycares. As a 7-figure business owner myself, I have strong opinions on this based on real-world results. Many make the mistake of prioritizing beauty over function. But a glamorous website that fails to convert visitors into leads is useless! I cringe whenever I see the "Learn More" buttons. If I had a pound for every one of those, I wouldn't need to work again. They don't compel action. Your site exists to capture contacts, not impress with aesthetics. Of course, looks matter somewhat. But conversion matters more. I've seen homepages without obvious calls to action or ways to get in touch. People shouldn't have to hunt for a buried contact form. Make it easy! This problem is rampant in dog training, a higher-ticket service. Every time a visitor bounces without converting, that's $2000-5000 in lost revenue. Ouch! Optimize for conversions first, beauty second. I know, you spent a fortune on that gorgeous site. But avoid falling for the Sunk Cost fallacy. One client paid $18,000 for a new site that generated no extra business. Just because you spent money doesn't mean you should keep a non-performing asset. As a business owner, you must make ruthless decisions based on ROI, not emotions. If that pretty website isn't bringing in leads, you need a new one built for conversion, even if it means abandoning your pricey investment. Remember, your site's purpose isn't to impress visitors with your credentials or philosophies. It's to make it crazy simple for ideal clients to contact you. An ugly, basic landing page can outperform a gorgeous-looking site. In service businesses like ours, relationships and conversations matter more than looks. Ditch the vanity metrics and focus on lead generation alone. Don't let a commitment to aesthetics or past spending deter you from making your website work for your business, not against it. I'm happy to advise anyone struggling with this - just reach out! Let's build your dog business together. Remember! • 003 - Why You Shouldn't Display Prices on Your Website with Sherry Boyer

7 FEB 2024 · Go to https://4dayprofitrace.com/ to get my FREE 4-DAY DIAGNOSTIC COURSE and be ahead of 90% of small business owners in the world! In episode 03 of the Thriving Dog Business podcast, I'm diving into a controversial topic - whether or not to put pricing on your website as a dog business owner. As someone who has built a 7-figure dog business myself, I've tested this extensively and have strong opinions based on real data and results. Putting pricing on your site may seem like the transparent thing to do, but it can actually limit your income dramatically. I'll share a story from a recent client who proved this point perfectly. She left pricing off her site per my advice. A prospective client had been searching other trainers' sites and thought $200 per lesson was too expensive for her budget. But after my client met with her and built trust through an evaluation, that owner happily paid $4,000 for a full training program! When you list pricing publicly, people make snap judgments about what they can afford before even understanding the immense value you provide. You shut off potential revenue. But when you have a conversation and you learn about their dog's needs, you can create a relationship, build trust, and tailor solutions. I learned this myself when I removed all pricing from my site and switched to an activity-based model. My boarding revenue tripled - yes, tripled! - that year. My clients were happier too because we took time to understand how to best care for their beloved companions. I know it may seem counterintuitive to remove prices or require conversations when you're busy. But look at the types of businesses you frequent - do you choose your hairstylist or dentist based on website prices? No, you value relationships and trust in these services. View your dog business the same way. Your expertise is worth investing in. Take down the pricing page and have discovery calls to learn about each dog's needs. This builds connection and shows you actually care, rather than treating this like an Amazon purchase. You'll earn more revenue and loyalty when dogs are seen as family members, not products. I invite you to join my free Facebook group, Dog Business Success Community, to dive deeper into this topic and transform your business. • 002 - How to Survive in 2024's Economy

1 JAN 2024 · Go to https://4dayprofitrace.com/ to get my FREE 4-DAY DIAGNOSTIC COURSE and be ahead of 90% of small business owners in the world! In this episode, I'm delving into a topic that business owners often approach me about privately - the economy. I'm recording this in 2023 as we head into 2024, in the wake of significant global changes since 2020. Now we're in an inflationary period - interest rates are up, purchasing a home or car costs more, grocery and petrol prices have surged. Rents and mortgages are becoming increasingly expensive. Times are uncertain. Many business owners are reaching out to me, concerned about what lies ahead. Those who navigated through the pandemic now ponder how they'll adapt. Some have successful strategies, but many in crisis seek assistance. I repeatedly hear similar concerns. The economic landscape has shifted from the pandemic's boom when dog trainers could charge almost anything. Now, cautious customers with tighter budgets demand long-term thinking and creative approaches. Dog care businesses like daycares, boarders, groomers, and walkers face evolving challenges. With more travel resuming, boarding may decline as owners cut back on perceived luxuries. Even in-demand groomers feel squeezed by overwork and burnout. Surviving the 2024 economy means focusing locally - connecting with your community, whether you enjoy it or not. Build networks and build referral partnerships through social media and messaging. Display your branding everywhere via QR codes leading to your website - on vehicles, shirts, buildings, etc. Don't hide - the businesses still thriving in 2026 will be those that market consistently without relying solely on expensive ads. Creating social media content and making local connections take effort but deliver results. I lived through the 2008-2009 recession and barely held on after laying off 48 employees. Compared to that housing crisis, today's inflation affects a broader spectrum - housing, food, transportation, everything. Playing the long game now is imperative. Just as Coca-Cola famously advertised through the Depression while competitors pulled back, your visibility distinguishes success from failure. Depressing times tempt us to retreat and give up, but persistence and creativity win the day. Don't let your business fail, hiding and giving up guaranteeing defeat. I want to see you succeed because your victory enables you to support others. Now is the time to courageously expand your outreach so you're still standing strong in 2026. So, listen to this episode and lay the foundation for your future prosperity! Remember! • 001 - 3 Mistakes Dog Business Owners Make that Scare Off Clients

20 DEC 2023 · Go to https://4dayprofitrace.com/ to get my FREE 4-DAY DIAGNOSTIC COURSE and be ahead of 90% of small business owners in the world! In this episode, I unveil counterintuitive ways well-intentioned dog business owners sabotage income by constructing metaphorical "locked gates" blocking potential customers. As someone who grew a dog daycare, boarding, and training company to over $1 million in revenue, I want to prevent you from enduring pitfalls I once fell into myself. Through my current coaching practice, partnering with hundreds of dog enterprises, I spot detrimental patterns repeating. Frequently, gorgeous websites or seemingly generous policies inhibit profitability growth when misaligned with marketing fundamentals. I realize you work extraordinarily hard caring for treasured pets while struggling to fund unexpected crises and more. My mission is empowering you to prosper abundantly following your passion. Now, let's explore concealed gates sabotaging your success: Firstly, contrary to intuition, I discourage publishing prices on your website. When people price-shop services online, they risk exiting indefinitely based on limiting money biases rather than personally connecting with you first. Skilled designers often create visually spectacular sites, but they lack compelling marketing copy and transparent calls-to-action essential to convert visitors into buyers. Pretty but ineffective websites repel visitors instead of magnetizing them to engage. Another cash flow barrier arises when depleted owners resent 11 PM information requests from prospective customers who are unaware you operate solo without administrative infrastructure. Evaluating processes preventing resentment preserves positive interactions. Likewise, resisting facility tours to accommodate anxious boarders often backfires. Savvy owners cost-effectively share engaging videos showcasing care environments without operationally disruptive walkthroughs. Finally, some boarding holiday specials generating short-term windfalls require continuing expensive staffing long after initial funds are depleted when packages lack expiration dates. Please remember you entered this industry because you cherish animals – that passion originally attracted clientele. As you open gates once obstructing your prosperity, you can serve pets even better while thriving joyfully. Stay tuned for more flourishing insights!
