The transformation that America has undertaken over the past 58-plus years cannot be described as anything but astonishing, both good and not so good. I don't recognize it from what I expected it to become socially and politically, but more importantly how the government relates to the people, the role that the people have made for themselves in relation to the government, and how successful America's very history and identity has been made foreign to many Americans.
