21 FEB 2020 · In this episode of the Sports Leadership Lab, USA Triathlon CEO Rocky Harris welcomes Chief of Staff Victoria Brumfield to recap and share their favorite moments from the inaugural Endurance Exchange, held last month in Tempe, Arizona.
Hosted by USA Triathlon and Triathlon Business International, Endurance Exchange welcomed nearly 600 coaches, race directors, industry retailers and others in the multisport community for three days of learning, sharing best practices and collaboration. In this episode, you’ll learn the genesis of the nation’s largest experiential triathlon summit, how Brumfield’s event operations experience at Virgin Sport and Korff Enterprises helped shape the direction of Endurance Exchange and you’ll hear about the wild goose chase to track down a treadmill fast enough for Olympian Anthony Famiglietti to attempt a world-record 2-mile treadmill run in front of a cheering crowd of conference attendees.
Harris and Brumfield also share their highlights from the USA Triathlon Foundation’s “Celebration of Sport” gala and induction ceremony of the USA Triathlon Hall of Fame’s 10th induction class, which includes multisport legends Cherie Gruenfeld, Richard Eugene “Dick” Hoyt and Richard Eugene “Rick” Hoyt, Jr., and Mike Plant (posthumous).
Also, get to know Brumfield (an accomplished endurance sport athlete herself), who discusses her career in helping build endurance sports events — including the New York City Triathlon and IRONMAN U.S. Championship — from inception to iconic brands.
