  • Orioles Ahead Of Schedule, But Ownership Is A Problem! A Yankee Housecleaning Forthcoming? Hard Knocks, Ron Rivera Apologizes For Comments R

10 AUG 2023 · Getting through this slow, sports Dead Zone period, yet again as I'll share whatever the sports universe has to offer. On deck: (2:39) The Baltimore Orioles have been flying high, leading the AL East with the best record in the league. With all of their young talent and promise on the rise, there's a looming presence from ownership that could upset the potential of how far this team can go over the next five years. Then there are the Yankees. Is it possible that there could be a housecleaning in the front office and/or the manager if they do not make it to the postseason? As for what's happening on the field, the Mariners have started to click as they're in the midst of a seven game winning streak. Can they threaten the Rangers for the division lead in the AL West? The Phillies have played well as they've thrusted themselves to the top of the Wild Card lead in the NL, in light of newly acquired Michael Lorenzen throwing a no-hitter vs. the Nationals. I’ll take a peek at all of the latest that’s happening in the divisions and wild card races as we approach the middle of August. (33:19) Hard Knocks premiered on HBO the other night as the Jets are highlighted this year. I haven't watched it yet, but from what I've heard it's been an absolute lovefest between QB Aaron Rodgers and the team. The Commanders are back in the news cycle. Coach Ron Rivera had to retract some comments about his offensive coordinator, Eric Bieniemy and his intensity toward the players. This is a make or break year for Rivera with a new regime in tow. There's been more off the field news as former Raiders wideout Henry Ruggs has been sentenced three to ten years for his fatal accident back two years ago in Las Vegas. Saints RB Alvin Kamara and Colts CB Chris Lammons have been suspended for three games at the start of the season for their involvement in a fight that took place in Vegas last year. No matter how many players get in trouble off the field and all of the negative press that it generates, it goes to show that 'The Shield' is impenetrable when it comes to things like this. • A Wild MLB Weekend With Sweeps, Some Separation, A Big Scuffle & A Bold Mets Prediction! College Football Conference Exits. Good Or Bad? USN

7 AUG 2023 · Is the sports scene starting to pick up? It sure does look that way for the moment as I dissect and divulge all that's taken place over the past few days. On deck: (2:49) It was a wild weekend in the MLB over the weekend. Are the Twins establishing themselves as the team to beat in the AL Central? With the way the Guardians have played, they just might be. Speaking of which, the Guardians & White Sox had a donneybrook on Saturday night as Jose Ramirez got the best of Tim Anderson in a crazy scene out at Progressive Field. Then you had former White Sox reliever Keynan Middleton blast his former team stating that there's no leadership, taking a shot at manager Pedro Grifol, which speaks to how they've underachieved over the past two years. The Blue Jays went into Fenway to sweep the Red Sox as they've put some distance in the Wild Card race in the AL. Will the Red Sox be heard from after a lost weekend? I'll go through both the AL & NL pennant chase, dissecting each league with some intriguing storylines (i.e. Rangers rolling in AL West, Yankees rough road, Cubs becoming a force in NL Central?) And a presumptuous prediction by yours truly in regards to the future of the current Mets manager, Buck Showalter. (26:17) The NFL opened their exhibition season this past Thursday and had the Hall of Fame induction on Saturday. Did I watch? I'll segue to the college circuit as they've made a ton of news over the past few days. Two teams are leaving the PAC-12 (Oregon & Washington) to join the Big Ten. While Utah & Arizona State are moving to the Big 12. With all of these teams (including USC, UCLA to the Big Ten. Oklahoma & Texas moving to the SEC in the next year) moving to bigger and better conferences, how does this change the landscape of the sport overall? Is this good for college football? (39:18) The US Women's Team fell short of repeating as World Cup Champions as they were ousted by Sweden. Who's to blame here? Was it just bad luck? A lack of fire? (44:38) On the NBA front, Anthony Davis signed an extension to stay with the Lakers to make him the highest paid player (annually) in the league at $62 million per. Why this deal is high risk/high reward as the Lakers look to get back their championship mojo? (49:24) There was a huge trade in the NHL as Norris Trophy winning defenseman, Erik Karlsson gets shipped from San Jose to Pittsburgh in a three team deal involving Montreal, to fortify and upgrade a backline and power play already equipped with future Hall of Famers Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. Does this automatically make the Penguins a team to beat in the East? Also, the Capitals sign resident tough guy, Tom Wilson to a seven year deal. Is he worth a long term deal as such? • MLB Trade Deadline Recap. Astros World Series Favorites? State Of The Mets Future. Division/Wild Card Update. NFL Preseason Is Back/Detest L

3 AUG 2023 · August is here as we await to get out of the doldrums of a slow sports period. Have no fear. There are a few topics on the board that I'll dive into as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck: (2:43) As we continue to slog through this Sports Dead Zone, Pt. 2, thankfully there's baseball to discuss. After the dust settled from the MLB trade deadline on Tuesday, I'll get into a few of the trades that teams normally aren't in this position (i.e. Orioles, Marlins, Diamondbacks, etc.) at this time of the year and how they've set themselves up for this playoff chase. Of course, you know I have to throw in my rusty two red cents on the Mets. The "fire sale" that wasn't, turned into that did as they sent Justin Verlander to Houston on Tuesday. The course of this franchise has changed direction drastically, to the point that they are transitioning in 2024. Is that a good thing? Why have they done a 180? I'll unpack all of it, as well as, all of the latest in the division and wild card races with now less than two months to go in the regular season. (34:40) Are you ready for some football? Well, sort of. The NFL preseason kicks off tonight with the Jets-Browns playing in the Hall of Fame Game. Do I have any interest? The actual season commences five weeks from tonight with Lions facing the Super Bowl Champion Chiefs. Why I am NOT a fan of that game? The Denver Broncos have had a training camp to forget as they've had two players either suffer a season ending injury (WR Tim Patrick) or out indefinitely with a heart condition (WR KJ Hamler) (40:24) I haven't gotten into the US Women's Soccer Team performing in the World Cup as they were almost sent packing vs. Portugal. Why I can't get into it? Or even the sport on a whole? • Scherzer Snakes His Way Out Of NY, Angels Make Push As MLB Trade Deadline Looms. Colts Controversy, Aaron Rodgers Fires Back At Sean Payton.

31 JUL 2023 · As July comes to a conclusion, I'll take a look back AND look ahead to what the sports galaxy has to offer as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck: (3:44) The MLB trade deadline is tomorrow at 6pm. Some teams have been wheeling and dealing to fortify their rosters for a playoff stretch run (i.e. Angels), but the biggest deal to date was the Mets sending Max Scherzer to Texas for a minor league prospect. I GO IN on why this needed to happen? How Scherzer snaked his way out of town? And will the Mets make more deals before the deadline comes and goes? You won't want to miss what I have to say about this, as well as, the current state of the AL/NL wild card races. Can the Padres kick start their season after a sweep vs. the Rangers? The Brewers free fall. A HUGE week for the Yankees and much more as the dog days of August are on the horizon. (32:22) Some controversy is brewing in Indianapolis as star running back, Jonathan Taylor and the front office are playing a psychological tug of war. The front office states that Taylor suffered a non football injury as he failed a physical prior to the start of training camp, whereas Taylor, says that's not the case. Could this get ugly quick as Taylor is in the final year of his rookie contract? Let the soap opera begin with the Jets as Aaron Rodgers has come to the defense of his current offensive coordinator and former Broncos head coach, Nathaniel Hackett. This comes in light of comments made by the current Denver coach, Sean Payton towards Hackett where QB Russell Wilson was mishandled throughout last year. Is this anything to keep on our radar as both teams will matchup in Week 5? Bengals fans have their fingers crossed as Joe Burrow went down with a calf injury in a non contact play during a drill on Thursday. Any long term concerns for the franchise QB? The Vikings avoided a breakup with star pass rusher Danielle Hunter as they agree on a one year deal. (42:04) Terence Crawford showed Errol Spence Jr. a thing or two about being a welterweight champion as he dominated with a 9th round TKO on Saturday night. What's next for Crawford? And how will Spence recuperate from such a rough loss? (44:31) Justin Gaethje had to wait five years to avenge his loss to Dustin Poirier winning by KO in the second round with a head kick. Could a third installment be in the works between the two fighters? (46:16) Not much happening in the NHL or NBA. Although I do discuss Vladimir Tarasenko finds a home in Ottawa. While nothing much is happening on the Damian Lillard trade front as a memo went out to the 30 teams regarding the Blazers star guard. • Angels Fire First Trade Deadline Shot. Who'll Be On The Move? Saquon Stays, But End Is Near? Harbaugh's Weak Suspension. Brown Signs NBA's R

27 JUL 2023 · There's quite a bit to get into as I close out the week with my third podcast detailing all that's transpired in the world of sports. On deck: (3:15) The MLB trade deadline is days away. Who would've thought that the Angels are the first team to get the ball rolling as they acquire pitcher Lucas Giolito from the White Sox. Not only are they looking to contend as they're four games back of the AL Wild Card, but is this a message sent to Shohei Ohtani that they mean business? I'll go through some of the other key players that have been rumored to be dealt by the August 1st deadline. And also, bring you up to speed on the Wild Card races in both leagues and see where we stand heading into the final weekend of July. (22:11) NFL training camps are open throughout the nation. Aaron Rodgers takes a significant pay cut in New York, which'll free up cap space to bring in more players as they look to make a Super Bowl run. Giants RB Saquon Barkley signs a one year deal to stay in NY. Why I think this is his last year on the G-Men? I'll cover a few other big signings (i.e. Andrew Thomas, Trevon Diggs and Justin Herbert) as we're six weeks away from the start of the regular season. (27:46) Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh is facing a four game suspension for recruiting violations back in 2020. Was this a slap on the wrist? Why wasn't Harbaugh up front? Should the suspension been harsher? (32:18) Jaylen Brown has signed the richest contract in NBA history as he re-ups with the Celtics for $304 million dollars. Is he worth it? Is it more of the system than the player? Then you had the unfortunate story regarding Bronny James as he recovers from cardiac arrest that he suffered during a practice at USC. (39:24) Longtime Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron goes off into the sunset and retires after 19 seasons with the organization. Does he belong on the teams Mount Rushmore? Sebastian Aho signs an eight year deal to stay in Carolina. And a sad note as Blackhawks CEO Rocky Wirtz dies at the age of 70. (43:37) You have a good marquee fight on Saturday night in boxing as Errol Spence Jr. will square off against Terence Crawford. Is this match a few years too late? As for the UFC, you have another Dustin Poirier-Justin Gaethje bout as they'll go at it for a second time. • Orioles: AL's Best/World Series Contender? Harman Cruises To Open Championship. NFL Running Backs Unite For More Pay; Respect. Messi's Story

24 JUL 2023 · Streaking into the final week of July with the first of THREE podcasts as I get into all that's going on in the world of sports. On deck: (3:03) Are the Baltimore Orioles ready to take the next step as being a major contender in the AL? They sure showed the baseball world that they may be primed for a World Series run come October after winning three of four and taking over the AL East vs. Tampa Bay. There is a key missing ingredient that may stand in the middle of the way of a deep postseason run or a short one. I'll get into that, plus everything else happening in the MLB (Reds playing better, Dodgers with a first place cushion after a successful road trip, the Twins overtake first place in the AL Central) with a look at both the AL & NL Wild Card races to date. (25:15) There wasn't much, if any, drama surrounding the final golf major of the year as Brian Harman was your runaway winner of The Open Championship. Which means another year goes by for Rory McIlroy not winning a Grand Slam tournament as I'll go in great detail. (34:27) There's been a rallying cry for the respect of the running back in the NFL as there was a Zoom call with some of the top RB's in the sport over the weekend. Will this call amount to more money and notice among the GM's and owners of these teams to get their true worth? We don't have to worry about Daniel Snyder anymore as the sale of the Commanders is official. Will this new regime try to bring back the glory days of what this proud franchise once was? (45:04) Lionel Messi's debut with Inter Miami was storybook to say the least as he scored a goal in stoppage time to secure a 2-1 win over Cruz Azul. Did this development rock the sports world here in the US? Or was it just an afterthought? • O's-Rays Showdown In AL East, Reds/Marlins Sliding, Puzzling Yanks Headline MLB. Open Tees Off With Rory On Notice. Giants/Saquon Stand-Off.

20 JUL 2023 · We're starting to see a change in the stratosphere as the sports world is showing some life coming out of its dead zone. I'm here to relay all of the good, bad and ugly of the past few days as the most recent edition is available for your edification. On deck: (2:39) For the first time all year, the Tampa Bay Rays do not have sole possession of first place as the Baltimore Orioles are percentage points ahead of them in the AL East. That sets up a gargantuan showdown between the two teams this weekend starting tonight in a four game series. The Reds and Marlins have hit the skids after the break, trying to get back some of their mojo from earlier in the month. What has happened to the Yankees? They've been a huge disappointment losing two of three to Colorado, then getting swept by Anaheim this week. You know I'll dissect all that's going on in the Bronx as they try to keep their heads above water in this AL playoff chase. I'll see what else is happening in MLB as we're just 12 days away from the trade deadline. (20:08) The final golf major of 2023 has commenced as The Open out in Northern England. The big story is how will Rory McIlroy perform as he's on the verge on a nine year drought between major wins. How will he fare here on a course where he won the Open back in 2014? (28:49 ) A couple of NFL training camps have opened up as we get ready to reintroduce football to our consciousness. The Giants and Saquon Barkley are apart when it comes to a long term contract. How will this take into shape as we get deeper into summer? DeAndre Hopkins found a new home in Tennessee. Is he a good fit with the Titans? Cowboys All-Pro Zach Martin is holding out due to a contract issue. And the Steelers re-signed LB Alex Highsmith to a multi-year deal. (40:21) Free agent James Harden is interested in becoming an LA Clipper. Are the Clippers interested in him? Reigning MVP Joel Embiid recently stated that he wants to win a championship in Philadelphia or somewhere else. Is this a case of reading between the lines based on what he said? Or is it much ado about nothing? (46:12) Lionel Messi gets introduced to the MLS and the American sports landscape as he's scheduled to play in his first game tomorrow. Will he and his play have a lasting impact on the sport? The league? If not, what will it take to do so? • Alcaraz's Legend Launches With Win At Wimbledon. Ohtani On The Trading Block?/Orioles Threat In AL East. Tyreek Hill 2K Yards? Saquon's 4pm

17 JUL 2023 · Another week arrives as I deliver more heat to your speakers, earbuds or headphones when it comes to fast paced, action packed sports talk as the latest podcast is here! On deck: (3:08) The future, maybe even the present of tennis has arrived! 20 year old, Carlos Alcaraz defeats arguably the greatest men's player in the history of the sport, Novak Djokovic to win his first ever Wimbledon tournament. Is he not just the next big thing? Is he now? On the women's side, Marketa Vondrousova shocked the world as an unseeded player to win the whole thing, beating Ons Jabeur, who cannot get over the hump as she lost another opportunity to win a Grand Slam major. (17:00) Baseball makes its return from the All-Star Break as series resumed this past weekend. With the Los Angeles Angels slowly but surely slipping away from the American League wild card race, is it quite possible that Shohei Ohtani will be on the move before the trade deadline August 1st? I'll take a look at what went on in the MLB, including the red hot Orioles who not only pose a threat in the division, but possibly the entire league with their current eight game winning streak? Can they procure some big time starting pitching to take them to greater heights? The quest for batting .400 if your Marlins Luis Arraez. I'll also peek ahead at a couple of good series with the Dodgers-Orioles being the highlight of the early part of the week. And the 2024 schedule has been released, which is the earliest that I can ever recall. (36:18) We're a week away from NFL training camps opening up throughout the country. I can't say I'll be fully invested or excited (not to worry, I'll explain why) What I can say is that Tyreek Hill has some lofty goals for the upcoming season. He's shooting for a 2,000 yard season receiving. Is it achievable? Yes. But it'll be with an asterisk if he does it. (Again, I'll explain why) The Jets re-sign DT, Quinnen Williams as expectations for him and the team will be astronomical. The Giants have a big decision to make (and only have a few hours of me typing this) to get a deal done for RB Saquon Barkley by 4pm today. Will they sign the former #2 pick overall? (44:02) The NBA summer league concludes today with little to no fanfare, but on the ice, the Arizona Coyotes were in the news the past couple of days. They did the right thing by releasing a player they just signed to a one year deal (i.e. Alex Galchenyuk) as he was arrested in Scottsdale, AZ due to disorderly conduct and threatening a training officer after hitting a curb and sign while alleged being impaired. A disturbing and shocking story from a league that rarely produces incidents like this. (47:58) As I was about to do some housekeeping to close out another podcast, I remembered to make a mention of Lionel Messi as he was introduced to South Florida and America when he'll embark on a career in the MLS with Inter Miami this coming weekend. I'll delve into this more on Thursday's podcast, so please come on back for more on his impact to Miami, the MLS and the American sports landscape. • MLB Teams Impacting Trade Deadline & Pennant Chase. MLBPA Wants To Tweak Pitch Clock? Spurs Baby Wembanyama. Zion's Short Memory. Djokovic-A

13 JUL 2023 · It may be quiet around these parts when it comes to sports, but I'll be sure to come across loud and clear with my thoughts, opinions and analysis on what's happening as the latest podcast is here. On deck: (2:44) Us fans are ready for an intriguing 'second half' of a baseball season that has had a lot of surprise teams thrust in the middle of a playoff chase. The next two and a half weeks will be telling as the trade deadline is on August 1st. Which means, what will teams like the Orioles, Rangers, Reds, Marlins and Diamondbacks do to bring reinforcements and make a push for a playoff berth in October. I'll also break down all of the division and wild card races in the AL & NL. Why does Tony Clark want to tweak the pitch clock come postseason time? I'll review my over/under win totals to see where I'm at with my predictions regarding six teams dating back to late March. (31:36) Are the San Antonio Spurs serious? Putting prized draft pick, Victor Wembanyama on the shelf for the rest of the summer league? I must voice my displeasure on that, as well as, Zion Williamson saying that he wants to be out there playing instead of sitting on the sidelines. Why didn't he have that same energy toward the end of the regular season when his team was battling for a play-in spot? (38:13) We're down to the final few days at Wimbledon as we're one match away from an epic men's final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic. Will it actually happen? On the women's side, heavily favored Iga Swiatek was upset earlier in the week by Elena Svitolina. Who'll come out of top and take home a title at the All England Club? (41:26) HBO must be salivating at the thought of bringing their camera crews to the New York Jets practice facility next month. Will this be compelling television? Or will this end up being a dud?
