All the military training could not prepare her for the fight she would face...realization that another service member had violated her trust and belief in the very virtues that the Army are built on. Unfortunately, like many women in our society Erin quickly realized the chips were stacked against her...she would have an uphill battle to find justice. A battle that would make her question her beliefs, worth, and push her to the edge. But everything happens for a reason, and Erin Scanlon found her reason to keep fighting...not just for herself but for every military member who feels they are helpless after sexual trauma. 8 JUL 2020 · For the next 2 episodes we will introduce our community to Erin Scanlon, former Army Captain, and staunch Military sexual trauma advocate. Through our time getting to know Erin it is clear to see that she has taken a negative life changing event and turned it into something very positive. In 2016 Erin’s life changed. She would never be the same soldier or woman. But just like the combat she had trained for so diligently, Erin took this fight head on. Her well publicized trial have made the military and government look at sexual assault in the military with a more serious focus...and start to make viable changes. After service she has continued this fight by helping to dismantle the Feres Doctrine, an antiquated law that does not allow service members to seek legal action if they feel their case has been mishandled by the military. 10 JUN 2020 · For the next two weeks we will be introducing you all to former Marine Infantryman, longtime friend of HHT, and Life Coach, Jesse Simpson. His journey started in Des Moines, Iowa where he had ups and downs in early life. Jesse started as a kid on a path to nowhere, but as many of us who lived through the fateful events of 9/11, his life was directed on a new path that day. At 17 Jesse joined the Marines, where he served 3 overseas deployments...including an intense kinetic deployment to Helmand Province, Afghanistan during the fighting season of 2010. After leaving the Marines, Jesse has had many life successes including being a well liked strength coach in the Phoenix area, 2017 Arizona Firefighter of the Year, and starting his own Non-profit organization in 2017. But like many things in life we are most happy when fulfilling our purpose, and through all his “successes” Jesse did not feel he was living his purpose. But according to him, at 30 years old Jesse’s life started! 6 MAY 2020 · On this episode we welcome our very first guest HHT longtime friend, brother, and former Infantryman Brant Dancz. “It all started in a sleepy little town…” and ever since it has been one helluva ride. Brant’s journey to the Army started long before he raised his right hand. Growing up he knew of the military lineage his family carried, with 3 generations of 101st men serving our country; his dad and uncle even serving in the same Screaming Eagles unit at Ft. Campbell. Brant would begin his 4 years of service in 2011, and met our founders during his first duty station at Camp Casey, South Korea. He would take this time to learn and develop as a soldier, always embracing the challenge of growing and preparing for possible combat deployments. After Korea, Brant would get to carry on the family legacy by being a part of D CO (Death Dealers) 1-506 IN, 4BCT, 101st ABN DIV and eventually deploying with the Screaming Eagles to COP Zormat, Paktia Province, Southeastern Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
