  • Take 5: Gratitude and Super Powers

9 DEC 2019 · We're back this Sunday evening with another short soundbite to kick off your week with some ideas, inspiration and perhaps motivation. This week we're talking about Gratitude and Super Powers. As we head into the holiday season, stress can sneak in and we can get more hard on ourselves than usual. In this Take 5 let's explore our super powers, and what we can find to be grateful for. Science has proven that when we are in a grateful emotional place, negative emotions are not able to co-exist. Here's a great article on this topic: https://www.heysigmund.com/the-science-of-gratitude/ We'll also chat a bit about super powers; yours, your loved ones'. Spending some time to think about your super powers, or what I sometimes call gift work, is not only fun but it catapults you into an immediate state of gratitude. A great Forbes clip on super powers at work in our professional lives: https://www.forbes.com/sites/dedehenley/2018/10/08/what-is-your-super-power-at-work/#44304a478fda Enjoy this Take 5 and as always, please share with a friend and subscribe/like our page if you like what you hear. Have a great week!

  • Take 5: Serving others

25 NOV 2019 · We're back this Sunday evening with another short soundbite to kick off your week with some ideas, inspiration and perhaps motivation. This week we're talking about Servant Leadership. Surely you've heard of it, and perhaps you're even modeling it yourself (if so, awesome!), but if you haven't, be sure to check out the show and the website with more info below. Being of service to others doesn't require a title or authority. It's a way of life that will infuse your life with more meaning, purpose and joy. Servant leadership was initially coined by Robert Greenleaf in his essay "The Leader as a Servant" in 1970. You can read more about it here: https://www.greenleaf.org/what-is-servant-leadership/ We hope you enjoy another commute sound snack bite and hope that you start your week in the best way possible, whether you have a short week due to the holidays or are off the entire week. Enjoy your families and loved ones, and Happy Thanksgiving!

  • Corporate psychologist & executive coach WARD ASHMAN on culture

18 NOV 2019 · As you may have heard Niki share in our episode last week, Ward has been her mentor, coach and friend for over a decade, and she credits him with much of her success as a leader. I concur, Ward is extraordinary. Ward Ashman is a renowned psychologist, coach and founder of an incredible transformation company called TRIMERGENCE. A psychologist for over 30 years, Ward is a successful entrepreneur, leadership psychologist, strategic advisor, and management development consultant. Ward and his team of psychologists at Trimergence are making a tangible difference in corporate cultures across the world, and I can personally attest to how transformative this work is. Not only did I take part of the training but I appreciated it so much so that I became a train-the-trainer. These principles and path works! In Ward’s own words: "The Trimergence mission is to be a transformation catalyst to make a better world through individual self-mastery, team effectiveness, and organizational culture. For 25 years Trimergence has been empowering people to be at their best, motivated by a deeper sense of life purpose and creative partnerships with others. Our purpose is to converge science, art, and spirit to do the extraordinary in service to humanity and the planet." Ward and I talk about the three intelligences in the Enneagram model, why it's more important now than ever that our work places become kinder, and how to view the role of personality in how we show up. I loved this conversation and know that you will as well. Thoughtful and authentic surprise and delight only comes when it's unexpected, and when the recipient is delighted at the personal touch that goes beyond just a flower or a generic card. Today I share how I approach surprise & delight, and how to set an intention to listen for opportunities to do just that.
