But if we can be vulnerable and connect with others, we can start to heal and grow from our stories. We can find hope in our trauma, and use our experiences, talents, and abilities to help others in their stories. In this week’s episode, we will listen to Michelle Corrao and Emily Sutherland as they talk about the importance of sharing your story to heal from trauma. In 1996, Michelle was found in the trunk of her own car by an off-duty police officer after being abducted and violently assaulted. With Emily’s help, Michelle has written a book — Found: Found: Triumph Over Fear With Grace and Gratitude: The Michelle Corrao Story — about her story and trauma as a source of hope for other survivors and their families. In their conversation with Rebecca, Michelle and Emily talk about three things: 1. The importance of listening to the whispers and pay attention to the gut feelings we all get 2. How the most horrific aspect of our life and our trauma can be used to help someone else heal 3.
