  • Success to Significance Reunion Series with James Wright, met the Queen of England and was recruited by Bear Bryant

    1 MAR 2024 · James Wright shares his memories of family, school, Sherman, Texas, with particular gratitude for his Mom and Dad. His Dad served in World War II, came to Sherman and lived on Music Street. He opened Wright Snack Bar and became a popular stop for many Shermanites, especially for his chili pies. James honors his teachers from Carver and pays special homage to Coach Hudspeth, Coach Hunt, Coach O'Brien and Coach Irwin. And enjoy the story of his Mom eating chili with Coach Barry Switzwer and James meeting Bear Bryant in his houndtooth hat at Bearcat Stadium. Hear about James life as an accomplished football player and eventual careers at IBM and American Airlines. It was at American Airllines where James personally met Queen Elizabeth and slept in Buckingham Palace! Listen to the fun tale of James' band with Gary Simon. James called him a "thumper." This show is dedicated to James' children and also to his best friend James Jackson.
