Sharp Edges with Dave Wilkerson

  • #57 | Preventative Maintenance

14 SEP 2022 · Preventative Maintenance | Episode #57 Let's see if I can get my radio voice back then out of it for a little bit. But here we go. It is first thing Wednesday morning. I was dreaming up some topics and one of the things I was thinking about as well actually what it was, I was getting my car, the oil change and I was thinking, hmm, preventative maintenance. You know, they get that little sticker. They put up a new window that says in so many more miles you have to come back and then of course the threat is if you don't come back that you're going to have all sorts of problems. It makes sense. But first, maybe I should welcome everybody to my show and this is Dave Wilkerson and welcome to bits and pieces and the topic this morning I'm going to be on preventative maintenance. So think about this. If we don't take care of things, your car or maybe your business or yourself will be in bits and pieces and that's not a good way to be. Continued at 2BSRadio.com

  • #56| The Ninth Month

7 SEP 2022 · I know you've heard me say it before. Sometimes I need to hear that just to get me going, man. What a week. What a night of dreams. I wake up exhausted. It's amazing. I mean, I was climbing cliffs upside down, battling snowstorms with a backpack gone full of rocks and it was really almost tolerable until I was in a boat upside down as a submarine. And then I woke up because you know what, at that point, , it's going be a strange day. So why not go ahead and kick into September the right way? Nothing like a little bit of Earth, Wind and Fire to start your Wednesday morning. You may notice the theme here pretty soon. We're talking about September. Couldn't think of a better way to start it. Let's talk about September. Let's talk about why it's so important in the business world, your personal world in it's a, it's a great reset. • #55 | Five Stages of Love

31 AUG 2022 · I think all systems go is to remind me it's time to get going time to wake myself up. I have been having just a horrible time getting rest in the middle of the night. I either wake up and then I don't go back to sleep for three hours. My mind is really active. I think that's part of, and I got a couple of business projects I'm working on right now that have just sort of taken over. Not always good, but maybe today will be different. Maybe I'll sleep during day. You know, I haven't taken an afternoon nap in months and months, which is a good sign because, you know, I remember When my heart failure hit me years ago. Oh, that was back in 2014. That was a long time back. But I do remember that it wore me out and I was sleeping during the day a couple hours. So I always felt a little bit groggy and you know, so I've been fighting that back and I'm not going to fall back into that because I do words of affirmation and I tell myself, Hey Dave, you're okay. You're fine. Well, let's see what happens after this show, because I'm gonna go into the abyss. I'm gonna go into the, to the, I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna cross a bridge here and I'm gonna try to do it between two different topics and it's between a personal relationship and a business relationship. Cause I do believe a lot of what happens in a personal relationship is very similar to what could happen, you know, with a business. And maybe there's a lot to be learned from there. You know, there's a book out that Gary Chapman wrote called the five love languages, how to express heartfelt commitment to your mate. Now I'm gonna go through it as he's laid it out here. And then I'm gonna sort of fill in maybe backfill in a little bit of how it affects your maybe your business relationship as well. So hold tight and wish me well, but you know what? To put everybody in the mood first, let's go ahead and set the stage.

17 AUG 2022 · #53 Bits & Pieces | Mission to Help All systems go means that I have to get ready. Good morning, everybody. How'd you sleep? I know I can't hear you answer me, but I slept pretty well. I think, I mean, of course, I woke up bright and early. Maybe not so early. Maybe not so bright, but Hey, I've got my cup of coffee in front of me. So things are gonna be good. I'm gonna talk about my favorite subject this morning, small business. Now the sad thing is I'm also gonna be talking about some horrible statistics that small businesses had to deal with over the last couple of years, but I also wanna bring to your attention this, for those of you thinking about starting a small business or those who have to tell me if I'm right, 29% wanted to be their own boss. That meant that pretty much. They were probably unemployable. I always say I was one of the best employers out there. There was a time when I had over 300 employees, man, that was a challenge to say the least. And yet I also know that I'm probably the world's worst employee. That's why I started businesses. Right? Cause I knew that they're dissatisfied with corporate USA 17%. Well, they wanted to follow their passion. I love that one. Listen to the rest at 2BSRadio.com

  • #52 | All aboard the CRAZY Train

10 AUG 2022 · Here we come with another Wednesday morning. I'm feeling a little bit in a bit of a crazy mood. Funny that I mentioned that, you know, yesterday, I was trying to figure out what I wanted to talk about on this show. That's a little bit of a process. Maybe I'll share it with you sometime, but usually, it's just something that comes to me and then I start digging deeper into it mentally. And until I can drive myself a little bit on the crazy side now crazy can mean, you know, mentally ill, but it can also mean behaving in a strange way, which could be pretty much the same because of stress. The constant wine of this machine nearly drove me crazy. Or I think she, or he will go crazy if they don't get to take a vacation soon. So did you get that chance to take a nice vacation? Are you feeling a little bit nuts or crazy? It's mentally deranged, man. That's, that's pretty, that's a little harsh, right? How about this one? They also call it possessed by enthusiasm or excitement. Now I like that, right? Because you know, you could be crazily excited. It's a crazy idea. Well, you're right now, you don't have to tell me personally, but how many of you have done something that you thought was a little crazy yourself or that other people have? They don't hesitate to say, you know, you're nuts. You're crazy. You know, I had a couple friends that bought some property, bought a house outta state and they had never seen it. And everybody says, you know, you guys are nuts. You're crazy. Why would you do that? Well, they did it because they got a real deal. I mean, it was, it was quite a piece of property. They got, they knew enough about it. So they didn't feel it was an insane purchase. Yeah. Maybe it was a little bit on the crazy side, but guess what they ended up doing, they saw immediate appreciation on their property and it was a profitable, crazy idea. Now I'm gonna turn to take you down that crazy train just a little bit, because we all need a little bit of Ozzie. Listen to the show at 2BSRadio.com

  • #51 | The Pay Zone

3 AUG 2022 · Happy Wednesday. We will have a lot of fun today and I gotta get past the first part, which might, you know, they might bore you just a little bit, but I'm setting the stage. I wanna lead you on a journey and yes, I'm gonna talk a little bit about my first job, my personal pay zone. What's that you're gonna see? I promise to make it more exciting as we get through this, but let me set the foundation. So here we go. Are you ready? This is a pretty simple one. My first job I delivered newspapers. Actually, I delivered the morning paper and the Herkimer Evening Telegram. Believe me, I didn't enjoy it. It was fun riding my bicycle around all time, but you know with delivering the morning paper I'd have to get up at around 4:30 AM and put all the papers together and then deliver 'em. And I had a pretty good size paper route, but what I found that I enjoyed the most is I could do that and still have my entire day available to me. Well, at least untill about three o'clock when the evening telegram would show up. I didn't keep that job for long, the morning route I would do off and on. And then I had a couple friends and we would we'd share the route because it can wear you down. But we were paid based on the number of subscribers. So that was my first performance-based job. Right? A pretty simple one, the more people I got to subscribe to the papers, the more money I made, it just wasn't a whole lot of money. Listen to the rest at 2BSRadio.com

  • #50 | Who are YOU?

27 JUL 2022 · All right, here we go. It is another Wednesday, my 50th show. So you realized that half of July is up in 2022 is gone since we have a little bit more than five months until the new year. What the heck? You better figure out how to brand yourself. You better determine the best way to market who you are, and your expertise. You know, you can build a personal brand by staying true to your unique selling point. Dave, you promised, you said you wouldn't get complicated. You wouldn't try to confuse things. Okay. I'm gonna stop. Your brand is what people say about you when you're not in the room. So make sure they're saying something good. Does that make sense? Who do they think you are? What do you stand for? Are you somebody who's let's say you're punctual. You're always there early, you know, that's all part of your personal brand. And one of my most favorite parts is how much of your brand is integrity. Wow. Isn't that great? I could think of a lot worse things. That's for sure.

  • #49 Past Mistakes, Positive Future

21 JUL 2022 · Little things that I remember from the past, but the past is not what we're gonna talk about today. We're gonna talk about the future because you let your past determine your future. Your future's not gonna be as bright. Why? I can almost guarantee that because I don't care how successful you may have been. I don't care how successful you are. I know that everybody has got something in their past. They would prefer that it just stays in the past. So let's go ahead and clear out the past, you know, but I will tell you a couple things, you know, how you have that thing, that intuition, you have a premonition, you seem to sense something gonna happen or you, you know, everybody says, oh man, you're really intelligent because you knew in advance not to do that. Well, that's the past speaking that's experience speaking. Sometimes it's common sense, but most times, most times it's really experience. So let's talk about the past for a tiny bit, and I'm gonna spin the past into a real positive thing. No matter how bad your past may have been, how much it may have affected everything to where you are today, I can show you a couple things. Do you have anything that's positive in your life today? I want you to focus on that for a second. FLIPBOOK https://designrr.page/?id=130478&token=90306651&h=4008
