"Romeo and Juliet" is one of William Shakespeare's most famous tragedies, written early in his career. It is a timeless story of love and conflict that explores the intense romance between the titular characters, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet. The narrative is set against the backdrop of a longstanding feud between their two noble families in Verona, Italy. The play begins with Romeo heartbroken over his unrequited love for Rosaline. However, at a feast hosted by the Capulets, Romeo meets and falls instantly in love with Juliet. Despite the danger their union poses due to their families' rivalry, the pair are secretly married by Friar Laurence, who hopes that the marriage will reconcile the feuding families.Following a series of unfortunate events, including the deaths of Juliet's cousin Tybalt and Romeo's friend Mercutio, Romeo is banished from Verona. In a desperate attempt to be reunited, Juliet fakes her own death. The plan goes tragically awry when Romeo, unaware of the ruse, believes Juliet to be truly dead and takes his own life. Juliet awakens to find Romeo dead and, stricken with grief, kills herself. The play concludes with the families discovering the bodies of their children and, through their deaths, the Montagues and Capulets end their feud.
