    30 JAN 2023 · This Friday is Go Red for Women Day or just Go Red day in general as we try to call attention to Heart Health. February is Heart Month and OSF Saint Luke Medical Center want to help you stay on top of your heart health. Connie Wessells RN joined Samantha Rux on Wake Up Tri-Counties on Monday to talk about Heart Health and the best advice for keeping your heart healthy. Of course that means diet and exercise but also stress relief and making sure to regularly monitor your blood pressure. This Friday, February 3rd, everyone at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee and OSF Saint Clare Medical Center in Princeton are encouraged to wear red to support heart health but it's not just there, everyone is invited to join in and wear red to call attention to heart health.

    27 JAN 2023 · Other states are watching how the fight over No Cash Bail in Illinois plays out in front of the Illinois Supreme Court. Author, Lawyer and former member of law enforcement, Lance Lorusso spoke with Wake Up Tri-Counties on Friday, January 27th, 2023, and stated that other states looking at following Illinois' lead on eliminating cash bail are waiting to see whether this provision of the SAFE-T Act in Illinois can withstand a court challenge or whether it will be deemed unconstitutional.

    26 JAN 2023 · The Henry and Stark County Health Department reports that the latest COVID-19 numbers in Henry and Stark County are down, including hospitalizations. There were 52 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 between the two counties over the past 7 days. RaeAnn Tucker from the Henry and Stark County Health Department gave us the latest numbers and tells WKEI that there is no new guidance yet regarding Booster Shots. Currently, the only guidance is that if you have not gotten your Bivalent Booster, you should get it. Meanwhile, today, January 26th, brought the first in a series of Public Health Events being held by the Henry and Stark County Health Department.     26 JAN 2023 · Bomani Jones is a sportswriter turned television personality. For a number of years he was a popular guest across many shows on ESPN. Known for his thoughtful yet often fiery takes on the sports issues of the day, it was inevitable that Jones would host his own show. Now, that show, Game Theory is already in its second season on HBO and according to Bomani himself, the series is becoming more ambitious in the sports topics that the show covers. Bomani Jones was our guest on Wake Up Tri-Counties on Wednesday, January 25th, 2023.

    25 JAN 2023 · The Galva City Council met on Monday night at Galva City Hall. Mayor Rich Volkert spoke to WKEI about the meeting and the items on the agenda including a presentation about community development from Hometown Consultants. The City Council then approved a brand new Blue Star Program. The Blue Star Program has citizens going through a process to become a safe place for kids to go if they feel in danger. The Blue Star Program was in place years ago and the Council has decided to bring it back. If Galva residents would like more information about the Blue Star Program and being a safe place for kids, contact Galva City Hall.     24 JAN 2023 · There is strength in numbers and Ten Squared Men proves it! The group is modeled after a similar group in Panora, Iowa, which just so happens to be the boyhood home of local retiree John Teale who started the Maryville chapter.They are a group of what is now 137 members who donate $100 quarterly to a chosen local charity. The perspective recipients of the money are submitted to the members. Then, through a random draw, three are chosen to make a presentation to the group for a final decision on the winning organization. Checks are then written directly to the recipient by each member. There are no admin fees or bank accounts to manage. As you can imagine $13,700 is nothing to sneeze at!
