Prabhat Misra's Podcast For Nature

  • Story Of Outstanding Efforts For Nature By An Officer Of Indian Administrative Service Ms Neha Sharma.mp3

8 FEB 2023 · Hello friends. Today I will tell you about a grassroot level real effort which converted a piece of barren land into a micro forest; biodiversity is flourishing there. Friends, let us tell you how an Indian Administrative Service officer, committed to environment protection, converted a plot of barren land in Uttar Pradesh into a micro forest. Friends, there is a district named Firozabad in the province of Uttar Pradesh in India. Between Firozabad and Agra, on both sides of the Lucknow-Agra Expressway, there are many deep ravines, mud island structures, and wastelands. All of them are dry and infertile. These lands are inhabited by termites and lack water. The amount of calcium pebbles in the soil is also very high.  The initiative to rejuvenate a plot of these barren lands was taken by the then District Magistrate of Firozabad Miss Neha Sharma.  Dedicated to the environment, Miss Neha Sharma selected a block of land of over an acre near the banks of the Yamuna River in Jalalpur village of Firozabad district for her environment project. Miss Neha Sharma formed a team of officers; with this team she personally visited the place many times despite her busy schedule.  Ultimately, she took up a challenging project and personally made every effort to make it a success with the utmost care. Miss Sharma entrusted the day-to-day care of the project to Mr. Rambabu, a local farmer. Mr. Rambabu took care of the saplings planted there and contributed to make the project a success. Eventually, Miss Sharma's hard work paid off and she succeeded. Miss Sharma provided all possible cooperation from her side to make this project a success. Her efforts improved the biodiversity and ecology of the region. With this effort, she spread awareness in the field of environmental protection in Firozabad district. Her efforts in nature conservation will help district Firozabad in dealing with climate change.  This effort by her is an outstanding example in the field of environmental protection by an officer. All of us should also keep trying in such a way that this world can be saved from the bad effects of climate change. We all should work for Nature and Mother Earth so the world can be made livable for the future. Thank you.

  • Story Of Former Cancer Patient Mr Narendra Singh Yadav, The Sparrow Man.mp3

4 FEB 2023 · Hi Friends. Today is World Cancer Day. Here is an inspiring story of an officer-cum-environmentalist Mr Narendra Singh Yadav who defeated bone marrow cancer. He is now cancer-free. He was posted as Divisional Joint Development Commissioner in the government of Uttar Pradesh province, India, but due to his continuous illness he has taken voluntary retirement. He lives in Kanpur (India) with his wife Mrs Rashmi Singh and two young daughters, Prachi and Pragya. The whole family is dedicated to protecting sparrows. Apart from studying, his daughters are actively involved in maintaining the records of nests and chicks and preparing food for them. His wife Rashmi looks after both his mission and home. He distributes special sparrow nests, free of cost. Houses in his neighbourhood, colonies, societies and multi-storey buildings—all have these nests on the walls. He takes care of the injured and sick birds. He is known to his friends as ‘Sparrow Man‘.  He used 10% of his monthly pension for saving these birds and making nests for them. Mr Narendra Singh say, "I have been a patient of blood cancer since 2013, but I never stopped dreaming, making plans and finding ways to save the birds. Always remember how important your life is; do not forget it, even for a second.“ After detected with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells, Narendra started treatment. He says that the one thing that brought him joy through his illness were the sparrows. He has so far distributed over 6,000 nests and helped save over 1.2 lakh sparrows as well. He reckons that even his cancer illness didn’t deter him from this cause. To reach out to Narendra and be a part of his movement, you can contact him via his Twitter handle @NarendraSparrow. Thank You.

  • Future Of Urban Air Quality In Era Of Climate Change

24 JAN 2023 · By 2050 the vast majority of humanity will live in cities, towns, and other urban areas. Among the most pressing of global urban environmental challenges is air that is either too dirty or too hot. Globally, tens of millions of lives could be saved if cities invest an average of $4 per resident annually in planting urban trees. Policymakers should maintain and plant more trees, develop more parks, and fund research about trees. Source: https://www.youthkiawaaz.com/author/prabhatmisra 🌳🐦🐿️🍁🌞.

  • Trees Helps To Reduce Respiratory Problems

22 JAN 2023 · Trees filter the particles out of the air we breathe, which decreases our risk of respiratory problems, including asthma. One study found that in 2010, trees removed 17.4 million tons of air pollution across the US, which prevented 850 human deaths and 670,000 cases of acute respiratory symptoms.Scientists working in smoggy Houston say planting a 1.5-square-mile forest would make the air more breathable and could remove as much as 310 tons of ozone from the atmosphere over the course of 30 years. Plants start to exhibit damage when they are exposed to ozone levels that reach 40 parts per billion or above. Trees absorb odours and pollutant gases (nitrogen oxides, ammonia, sulphur dioxide and ozone) and filter particulates out of the air by trapping them on their leaves and bark.Trees are natural and low-cost solutions of healthy air. Best air filtration by trees occurs within 100 feet of a tree. So, street trees are associated with a lower occurrence of early childhood asthma; children living in areas with more street trees have lower prevalence of asthma. In one year, an acre of mature trees absorbs the same amount of CO2 produced when you drive your car 26,000 miles.

  • Women's Empowerment And Peace

16 JAN 2023 · The impact of women’s participation on peace and security outcomes remains poorly understood. For example, women made up just two percent of mediators and nine percent of negotiators in official peace talks between 1992 and 2011. Just two percent of funding dedicated to peace and security goes to gender equality or women’s empowerment.  Educated women can participate in political discussions, development meetings and security decisions, and help form a government that equally represents and respects its citizens. Women’s inclusion helps prevent conflict, create peace, and sustain security after war ends. Denial of women's rights and women's respect in a nation means the dawn of a draconian and barbarian government by inhumane persons.   Women's empowerment and gender equality are associated with peace and stability in society. Gender equality is a better indicator of a state’s peacefulness than other factors like democracy, religion, or GDP.
