  • How does Dr. Strange's multiverse of madness tie in to AVENGERS Disassembled? (A Midnight Musings Short Take)

16 APR 2022 · Writer-director-producer, Robert Meyer Burnett, and his guest, Rrr Mmmm, discuss the connection between the upcoming movie, DR. STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS, and the Marvel Comics series, AVENGERS: Disassembled. In that comic series, Dr. Strange finally explains the scope of power running through Wanda Maximoff (the Scarlet Witch). She can control all of reality and, as a result, reality controls her. Drama, conflict, and tragedy become excuses for her to change the world to fit the way she likes. But as she does, a little more of her slips away and she slowly loses her mind. She becomes the chaos. Rob also reaffirms his belief that this movie will finally create the opening needed to introduce mutants and the X-Men to the MCU. DR. STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS debuts on May 6, 2022. • Do we really need ANOTHER Joker? (A Midnight Musings Short Take)

15 APR 2022 · THE BATMAN was a fine movie, but there's always room for improvement. MIDNIGHT MUSINGS Co-Host, Lael Rockwell, questions the way the movie wrapped up and hinted at who the next "big bad" might be in a sequel film. Lael's point: there are so many great villains in Batman's "Rogue's Gallery" why do filmmakers have to keep going back to the same one or two. Interestingly enough, the three then take a closer look at the villains on display in Reeve's Batman film and the list is relatively short: Joker, Penguin, Riddler and Catwoman - which is the same four, key villains featured in the Batman TV show of the 1960s with Adam West and Burt Ward as the caped crusaders. Rob points out that many of the classic Batman villains are pretty corny and might not fit with the gritty, realistic characters in Reeve's film. But the use of Falcone and Moroni as key villains in this first movie lent an air of credibility to the storytelling that impressed all three co-hosts. • Is ethnic diversity in our fantasy stories a good thing? (A Midnight Musings Short Take)

11 APR 2022 · Did the lack of ethnic diversity in genre entertainment affect our understanding and appreciation of that entertainment? Are creators and producers missing an opportunity by not presenting an ethnically diverse cast from the onset? These are the questions MIDNIGHT MUSINGS co-hosts Robert Meyer Burnett, Rrr Mmmm, and Lael Rockwell explore in this segment from their February 20, 2022 show. The conversation was driven by the decision to include non-white characters in the Lord of the Rings prequel series being produced for Amazon Prime. RMB, Lael, and Rrr Mmmm discuss the background of the source materials, the creators' intentions, outside factors that might influence casting decisions like this, and, ultimately, whether it's a good idea from a story perspective.
