Pastor Malachi Mitchell, born and raised in San Diego, has walked a remarkable journey—from acting and modeling to city service, and now a powerful voice in ministry. In 1996, during one of the darkest times of his life, he experienced a spiritual awakening where God changed his name from Anthony Mitchell to Malachi—a name he’s affectionately known by today.
Licensed and ordained since 1984, he has served as youth pastor and co-pastor at Good Samaritan of San Diego Church alongside his family. He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Christian Studies with an emphasis in Leadership from Grand Canyon University.
Together with his wife Christine, he founded Life’s Word Ministry to reach, teach, and restore hope—helping families heal, empowering the broken, and inspiring lives to change through the truth of God’s Word.

Scripture: Proverbs 4:23 — “Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it spring the issues of life.”
Proverbs doesn’t say to guard your heart casually. It says, “with all diligence.” That means intentionally, consistently, and seriously. Why? Because everything in your life flows from what you allow into your heart and mind.

Scripture: Romans 8:15 — “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”
Romans 8:15 makes something very clear—fear is not your identity, and bondage is not your portion. God did not give you a spirit that chains you to worry or paralyzes you with uncertainty. He gave you the Spirit of adoption. That means you belong.

Scripture: Mark 9:24 — “Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.”
Doubt does not always mean disbelief. Often, it means faith is under pressure. In Mark 9, a man comes to Jesus desperate for help and speaks one of the most honest prayers in Scripture: “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.” That tells us doubt can exist alongside faith. The presence of doubt does not cancel faith—but how you respond to doubt matters.

If you don’t already know it let me tell you, fear thrives in uncertainty. It asks questions without answers. It imagines outcomes you can’t control. And it fills the gaps with worst-case scenarios.

Scripture: Psalm 56:3—"What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.”
Notice what David says in Psalm 56:3. He doesn’t deny being afraid. He doesn’t shame himself for feeling fear. He acknowledges it—and then he makes a decision: “I will trust in thee.” That tells us something important. Fear may be a feeling, but faith is a choice.
