30 DEC 2022 · 📌 Some beneficial points from tonight's class with Shaykh Khalif (may Allah preserve him) 📖 Title: Lessons from the Story of Prophet Adam with Iblees from Surah Al-A’raaf 1. Allah honored Prophet Adam عليه السلام and his children by creating them, and shaping them and creating their Father Prophet Adam with his own two hands. This necessitates for us to be Grateful to Allah . 2. Iblees disobeyed Allah because of his own wrong interpretation and analogy ( القياس الفاسد), any interpretation/analogy that one uses to disobey Allah is in fact following Iblees, even if they try to beautify it. 3. Iblees said he is better than Prophet Adam because he is made from fire and Prophet Adam is from clay. Many are afflicted with this type of disease which is in different forms, like tribalism, nationalism, and the likes, when in fact a Muslim should be considered based upon Taqwa. 4. Iblees disobeyed Allah out of arrogance and jealousy, while Prophet Adam عليه السلام disobeyed out of desire, thus he made repentance and returned back to Allah. This shows doubts are more severe than desires. 5. Arrogance is to reject the truth and to degrade others. Jealousy is to envy others by wanting their blessing to be taken away from them wether they get that blessing or not. 6. What led Iblees to disobey (arrogance and jealousy) are evil actions of the heart. Thus many scholars say that the sins of the heart are more severe than the sins of the limbs. 7. The scholars mention that Allah عز وجل did not refute Iblees’s response because Iblees did not mention anything to seek the truth or confusion. He already was aware. Thus, anyone who knows the truth and turns away one should not go after them or debate with them. 8. Iblees sought highness and honor while trying to degrade Prophet Adam. Anyone who seeks highness or honor in a wrongful way will result in the opposite of what they seemed, similar to Iblees. 9. The command of Allah عز وجل must be obeyed even if the person feels from the Shaytan that sticking to obedience will make the person be humiliated or lose status. The reality is obeying Allah is honor and elevation while disobeying is humiliation. بارك الله فيكم
