  • Alex becomes the Best Firefighter Ever!

    25 FEB 2018 · Alex has recused Adelaide and become the Best Firefighter Ever!   8-year-old Alex in 2012 was diagnosed with a brain tumour and unfortunately lost his sight.With the help of Adelaide his dream became a reality as he rescued his idol Port Adelaide Football Captain Travis Boak and Adelaide Crows Erin Phillips from a fire on the top floor of the iconic Haigh’s Building in Adelaide’s Rundle Mall. On 12 PM Friday, February 23rd, Mix1023’s Jodie & Soda managed to Make Alex's Day with the help of South Australia’s Premier Jay Weatherill, Adelaide’s Lord Mayor, SAPOL, MFS, SA Ambulance, Haigh’s and many more in Adelaide who were willing to help the cause. After four weeks of planning and the help of Adelaide his dream became a reality as he rescued his idol Port Adelaide Football Captain Travis Boak and Adelaide Crows Erin Phillips from a fire on the top floor of the iconic Haigh’s Building in Adelaide’s Rundle Mall.     21 FEB 2018 · Jodie & Soda have been helping 8-year-old Alex who was diagnosed with a brain tumour and left blinded to fulfil his dream and become Adelaide’s Best Firefighter Ever.Soda threw out the challenge for other Adelaide radio stations to jump on board the campaign and it led to a first ever simulcast between Mix1023 & FiveAA’s Breakfast show with David Penberthy and Will Goodings. “Look from your end it’s been a big logistical exercise to get this underway from the Premier, Opposition Leader, the head of the firefighters and Police Commissioner…”Soderstrom revealed that Adelaide businesses have even jumped on board in making Alex the Best Firefighter Ever.“Even Alistair Haigh he doesn’t want his chocolates burnt…he wants the iconic Beehive corner to stay intact”Come down to Beehive Corner in Rundle Mall Friday 23 at 12 Noon to cheer on Alex becoming the Best Firefighter Ever!

    21 FEB 2018 · South Australian singer Rachael Leahcar contacted Jodie & Soda after hearing 8-year-old Alex’s story and wanted to help with his dream to be Adelaide’s Best Firefighter Ever.“I’ve been listening and it’s really touched my heart and hear what he’s been going through with his family and brain cancer”“We both lack sight and we both love music and we both love making siren noises!”Leahcar would love to introduce her beautiful guide dog Ella to Alex as he may need assistance in the future and she says she doesn’t know where she’d be without Ella in her life…“She’s saved my life on several occasions, she even stopped me from falling off a cliff once!”Leahcar will be joining Jodie & Soda in Rundle Mall, Friday Feb 23  to cheer on Alex and make him the Best Firefighter Ever!  Rachael will also be taking part in the Royal Society for the Blind ‘Lap Dogs Walk’ on Sunday 25 February for a 3 km walk around the famous Adelaide 500 trackFor more information http://www.rsb.org.au/lap-dogs

    20 FEB 2018 · Jodie & Soda catch up with the man behind Mrs Browns Boys Brendan O’Carroll who reveals the cast is made up of entirely his family.“My sisters in it, my daughter-in-law’s in it, son-in-law and my wife’s sister producers it and in fact there’s twenty-two of us on the road and those that of us aren’t related are sleeping together!”O’Carroll also re-lived the moment Musician James Blunt kissed him during a show.“It was a very odd situation, when he came towards me and Mrs Browns started flirting and he started flirting back and then went in for tongue kiss!”“My wife said to me afterwards you must have got a terrible shock! And I said we’ll it was quite nice…it was a passionate embrace and I think he liked my kidneys!”

    19 FEB 2018 · Port Adelaide Football Club Captain Travis Boak is an Ambassador for the Childhood Cancer Association and joined Jodie & Soda to talk about the importance of helping young kids with cancer like 8-yea-old Alex who is set to become Adelaide’s Best Firefighter Ever.Boak says he regularly visits the children in hospital following treatment and it really puts changes his perspective on what is important in life.““It was one of the hardest thing to see in the hospital they’ve just got cords ion their bodies and some have lost their hair and they just look very sick”  “You go in there and you may have had a rough sleep or a bad day but you go in there and there’s kids going through that and they are in the best mood and just so positive about life and I think that’s certainly what helps them”The Port Captain encourages all supporter to don their colours and head along to cheer Alex as Adelaide’s Best Firefighter Ever in Rundle Mall Friday 23, 2018.“We need all Port supporters down there Friday it’s going to be a massive event for Alex and his family, he’s a little superstar”  “If we can get as many Port fans as we get to our games that would incredible!”

    18 FEB 2018 · From Bridezilla’s under the influence to Groom’s wanting make-up for the big day, Jodie & Soda’s Whistleblower Make-Up Artist MJ takes us behind the scenes of the wedding industry.MJ revealed sometimes the dedication for a wedding day can be inspiring… “We rocked up at a house and noticed that one person was missing and the Bride said my Maid of Honour has gone to the hospital to have her first child, we went to the hospital to do her make-up and she rocked up to the wedding that is dedication” She also revealed that some brides were drink and take Valium before their big days and at times drugs have been consumed by the bridal party… “We’ve had a particular ‘white substance’ laid out on the living room table like it’s sherbet and my hair stylist tried to use the hair dryer to blow it away”

    15 FEB 2018 · Jodie & Soda want to make 8-year-old Alex who is blind due to a brain tumour Adelaide's Best Firefighter Ever! They have the MFS, SA Police, Rundle Mall and Haigh's building at Beehive corner ready to have Alex do a rescue on Friday February 23 at midday but to shut down the streets of Adelaide but they needed permission from South Australia's Premier.Soda "Can you give us permission to shut down the city??" Weatherill confirms he can help Alex fulfil his dream of becoming Adelaide's Best Firefighter Ever.“Look it’s complex to organise like this at short notice… this will probably be one of the last decision I make before we go into Caretaker mode I can issue an Executive instruction… I can confirm… and I'll be there!!" "We are shutting down the City!!!
