After graduating from chiropractic college Dr. Broadhurst then went on to study further and was awarded her diploma as an Internationally Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician from the International Federation of Chiropractic Sports. Her first dog as a child was a red Doberman named Duke that she competed in obedience trials with. Back then, it was standard to teach dogs using force. Even at 11 years old, and in defiance of those who were teaching her ‘how to train my dog’, Susan refused to hurt her best friend. Her kind methods of training paid off, out of a possible 200 points, they consistently scored 199 and 199 1/2 in competitions. Duke was her best friend and he was treated with respect; he returned the love tenfold. At 15, Susan's parents bought me a horse for her birthday. Susan went from showing dogs to showing horses. Her respect for animals continued with her horses; she had the number one Quarter Horse gelding in the State of Kentucky for several years. Susan then went to college on a horsemanship scholarship; taking three horses with her to school.
