But it is not enough to adhere to Islam by claim or ascription only. Rather, after being guided to accept Islam it is upon the Muslim to learn Islam from its proper sources and to act upon it. The lecture also mentions a foundational point explained by the great Imam al-Barbahaaree (died 329 AH, rahimahullaah) in his book Explanation of the Creed (Sharhus-Sunnah): "Islam is the Sunnah, and the Sunnah is Islam..."
