In this first episode of the podcast, we spend time with Drs. Geruluk and Maxwell exploring some of the guiding principles that ground and inform teachers day-to-day decision-making, some of the challenges around teacher professionalism and the importance of preparing new teachers through intentional work in professional ethics and law.
Bruce Maxwell is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Montreal, where he teaches courses and conducts research on education law, professional ethics in teaching, and the history of educational ideas.
Dianne Gereluk is the Dean of the Werklund School of Education, University of Calgary. Her research examines politically contested and controversial issues in education.
Christopher Martin is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia. His research interests include educational ethics, the relationship between educational values and political justice, and the aims of higher education.
