  • A Disciples Perspective

7 MAR 2019 · This episode we are digging into the concept of a disciples perspective with an analogy. Using a large camping backpack as our focus we are going to look it from 3 different perspectives. A photo, a walk around the pack and then finally, handling the pack. What do these three different perspectives reveal about how we walk with the Lord? - Romans 12:2 - Isaiah 55:9 - 1 Cornithians 2: 16 - Matthew 5:27-28 www.inthecoolzone.com

30 MAR 2019 · Picking back up with starting a disciple with prayer, reading and connecting with a seasoned Christian. Three steps of obedience we want the disciple to walk in... Prayer, reading and connecting with a seasoned Christian 1. Prayer a. Prayer is the catalyst for walking in the Spirit. b. It is a spiritual function… NOT a practical function. c. Renewing the mind. d. Make a prayer list. i. Start small. ii. One prayer item for the first week. iii. Two prayer items for the second week. iv. Let 'em loose! e. Consistency (in obedience) is the catalyst for growth. i. What are the obastacles. 2. Reading a. Very short… just like the prayer list! b. Grow into longer segements. c. Consistency (in obedience) is the catalyst for growth. d. Renewing the mind. i. He who's mind is stayed on the Lord… ii. Think on these things… iii. Out of the abundance of the heart… e. Study is related to reading. f. Amos 3:3 g. Acts 17:11 3. Connecting with a seasoned Christian a. We are introducing the diciple to their Lord and Savior b. We are not their Father or Answer Man c. Building a foundation that anyone who teaches Christ can build on d. We are connecting two ideas i. Renewing the mind individually 1) But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit. - 2 Corinthians 3:18 NASB 2) and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. - Ephesians 4:23-24 NASB ii. Of One Mind as a body e. Being of one mind. i. "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." - John 13:35 NKJV ii. "that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. - John 17:21 NKJV f. Our growth is measured in our relationship with each other. i. Jesus replied, "The most important commandment is this: 'Listen, O Israel! The LORD our God is the one and only LORD. And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.' The second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' No other commandment is greater than these." - Mark 12:29-31 NLT ii. So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples." - John 13:34-35 NLT g. Prayer is the catalyst for walking in the Spirit. h. Consitency is the catalyst for growth! i. Curiosity is a catalyst for action. j. Romans 15:20 k. Romans 3:10-11

  • The Roles of the Discipler | Introduction

8 APR 2019 · Discipleship is... Walking with a disciple being transformed by the renewing of the mind.   The Discipler’s Roles/Skills Curiosity Leader - The very core of thinking we have forgotten. The first/primary role of a discipler! Mentor - a mutual relationship of trust with a recognized seasoned Christian and a novice Christian. Teacher - Doctrine. This role has a tendency to squeeze out the other roles in the modern day church. Training – Yes training! Not just teaching and sending them on their way. The disciple demonstrates learning. Coaching - Another lost art and critical for connecting thinking to action. Modeling - A disciple needs to observe the discipler in action, under duress. The discipler demonstrates the walk. Nurturing - Recover perspective, healing, enforce fortitude. - Romans 12:2 - Hebrews 11:1 at the 1:49 mark. - Psalms 119 - 1 Corinthians 11:1 - Matthew 28:19 - 2 Timothy 3:16-17

  • The Roles of the Discipler | The Curiosity Leader

23 APR 2019 · Discipleship is... Walking with a disciple in being transformed by the renewing of the mind. Defining discipleship is critical if we want to walk in it as a body. It's already an illusive concept because it doesn't necessarily stand out in the scriptures. … and although the command to make disciples is very clear, the work of a discipler just isn't… at least not on the surface. Fortunately what we will discover is… the work of discipling is actually hiding in plain sight! So, we need to define Discipleship! - First and foremost… Because it hasn't been! - It's not intuitive. - We cannot be effective, orderly or of one mind.

  • The Role's of the Discipler | The Mentor

11 MAY 2019 · Mentor - a mutual relationship of trust, with a recognized seasoned Christian. Both have expectations of the other. The Mentor Set expectations… The Agreement The Mentor expects the Mentee > to be on time > show up prepared to learn > complete projects in a timely manner > maintain curiosity > What else? The Mentee expects the Mentor > to be on time > show up prepared to teach, listen, be patient > provide ongoing feedback > encourage curiosity > What else? > Prepared to say, "I don't know" Walk with the mentee when working through their thinking when a solution is not apparent. Teach them how to deal with massive amount of information. Teach biblically informed soft skills such as, demeanor, mindset, leadership, communication, organization, relationships, creativity, innovation, problem solving. What else?

  • The Role's of the Discipler | The Teacher

11 MAY 2019 · Teacher All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; - 2 Timothy 3:16 NASB This role has a tendency to squeeze out the other roles in the modern day church. It's a gift of the Spirit! So we know this is very, very, very important. In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. - Romans 12:6-7 NLT Teaching should never replace the other discipleship roles. But be sure that everything is done properly and in order. - 1 Corinthians 14:40 NLT Main function is to teach doctrine. > Not just knowledge but more importantly… UNDERSTANDING! > We won't need an Apologetics class, an Eschatology class, Evangelizing class, a Faith class... if we have discipled correctly. With that said, we don't need to get rid of these classes either. We just want them in their proper order. > When we shift from a teaching only mindset to a full discipleship mindset we are going to end up in new territory. We are going experience a vital change from a mostly ineffective body of Christ to a local church that is going to be informed, capable, and effective. It's not going to look like what we have at all and that is another area that we will realize… because understanding is renewing the mind for the very change we are looking for. > Awareness of learning styles. Ask the student how they like to learn! > Confirm learning. Check for Student Understanding. > Test learning.
