  • Episode 38: Santa Claus

11 DEC 2017 · In this episode of the World's Longest Running Na Magha Podcast we catch up with Santa. This is a real coup for Na Magha to get such an insight into the life of Santa. We learn about reindeer training on the Glenshane pass and how that led to him discovering Hurling in the city and how he followed Na Magha ever since. Off the record he told me that it has become a lot easier to follow the fortunes of the club since he joined the Facebook Group and followed us on @NaMaghaCLG on twitter. Santa was understandably nervous at getting to meet me but I think he did really well on his first ever hurling podcast. Santa is going to make an exclusive appearance for Na Magha this weekend at the Longtower Youth Club between 11:00 and 14:00. It's £4 entry. Not sure on Santa's exact schedule but he assures me there is loads of stuff going on. In the excitement I forgot to ask him about the National Draw but I did manage to sell a couple of tickets to some boys with pointy hats in his entourage... the Santorage he called em. Santa spoke of his love of music and how he really enjoyed hearing the last seisùn at the beautiful Pairc Na Magha. That gave me the opportunity to tell him that we are hosting another one on Thursday 21 December 19:30 til late. £5 Entry with all proceeds going towards @SVP_Ireland & @HurtHyt. All welcome along for some Christmas Craic-er. Santa endorsed our hosting of St Mungo's Luganulk on 3 March next year and talks about the "Good list" and what we can do to stay on that list. Again, it was a massive honour to speak to thw big man. I'll be sure to leave a wee snack out for him on Christmas eve. I hope you do too. In the words of the great man...UP NA MAGHA!

  • Episode 34: Tommy Quigley

25 NOV 2017 · In this episode of TWLRNMP we chat with Tommy Quigley following the seisún at the beautiful Pairc Na Magha. We talk how Tommy first got the hurling bug. How it stuck with him ever since. We talk about time away from the club and coming back into the Na Magha fold through camogie. We talk how the club has flourished since getting our own grounds and now our fabulous club rooms. We talk about how the social elements such as the seisùn are important to the club. Thanks for your time Tommy. Keep your eyes and ears open for Tommy playing music about the place and make sure you get along to the next time we have an event like this. A great chance to get to know folk within the club and show we are about a lot more than just what goes on out on the field. UP NA MAGHA.

12 OCT 2017 · It's about time we had more camogs on the world's longest running Na Magha podcast. So here we are with Sophie and Katie. Sophie tells at least one fib but we'll let that slide. We also learn what they hope to achieve in camogie when they grow up. Sophie and Katie disagree on who their favourite coaches are....but then again i suppose they had to as there is pocket money at stake here. The girls did a great job despite the distractions!
