God is the Protagonist and the Devil the Antagonist and God chooses and promises to be the Hero who will slay the dragon and rescue his creation held hostage. This chart will give you the three promises: I will make you a great nation. I will give you the promised land. I will bless the world through one of your Seed. You are introduced to two of the three types of contracts in the Old World: Parity and Patron. God's promises to Abram were Patron - nothing expected from Abram in return. Finally, the one sentence: From the time God makes these promises to Abram, THE REST OF THE BIBLE IS THE STORY O F ONE MAN'S FAMILY AND HOW GOT KEPT HIS THREE PROMISES TO THAT ONE MAN.

God is the Protagonist who has promised the Antagonist the Devil that he would undo the Devil's work using a child of the woman he had tricked - The family God chose? The Family of Abraham - the Jews - chosen not because they were special but because Abraham had believed God's promises.

God sent prophets to warn both Kingdoms and both ignored them at least and killed them at the most drastic. So, God used the Assyrians and the Babylonians to punish the Family of Abraham. The 10 Northern Tribes were lost and the 2 Tribes left were carted to Babylon where they had a severe change of heart. Here we find a repentant people with Synagogues, Pharisees, Scribes and Sadducees. When they arrived back in Jerusalem when Cyrus the Persian said God told him to send them back, they rejected their half-breed cousins and called them "Samaritans" as a term of derision. Chart three is the end of the Old Testament.
