    1 MAY 2024 · Shannah Laumeister Stern is an actress, director and curator/manager of her late husband Bert Stern’s Trust. Starting in the 1950’s, Bert was a groundbreaking commercial photographer who is often credited with completely changing the way in which photography was used in advertising. Simultaneously, his photography of actors and entertainers became the stuff of legend collaborating with a wide range of performers such as Sophia Loren, Barbara Streisand, Elizabeth Taylor and many more. He may be most associated with the over 2,400 images he made with Marilyn Monroe just three weeks before her passing. Shannah shares insights about their mentor and muse relationship over decades as well as the documentary “Bert Stern: Original Mad Man” she wrote and directed about him.

    15 APR 2024 · Jean Fruth is a Northern California based sports photographer, author and co-founder of the non-profit Grassroots Baseball who has specialized in visual storytelling across the United States and the World. Grassroots Baseball promotes the sport with the goal of growing interest and participation in the game at the youngest levels. Jean's books, Grassroots Baseball: Where Legends Begin and Grassroots Baseball: Route 66, are complete with terrific photography and backstories of the images. She has been recognized by camera manufacturer Sony as an Artisan of Imagery. Jean's work has been featured in such prestigious institutions as The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum, the Smithsonian and the Baseball Hall of Fame. His books "Total Excess" and "Field of Play" showcase his remarkable photography skills in music and NFL football respectively. From the 60's when he worked with acts such as The Who, Eric Capton and The Grateful Dead to those in years since such as The Clash, Blondie, Tom Petty and many more, his unique style is present. For almost four decades he has been the official team photographer for both the Oakland A's baseball and San Francisco 49ers football teams. The sheer breadth and depth of Michael's work is beautiful and inspiring.
