Famous for his role as Goober Pyle on The Andy Griffith Show, Mr. Lindsey has amassed a resume of wonderful performances during his career which also includes voicing characters in some of Disney's most beloved animated films including Robin Hood and The Rescuers. As Reverend Ed Barker in When I Find the Ocean Lindsey gives a powerful performance supporting the family as they wait for news of their missing daughter. When I Find the Ocean, which received the official Dove Seal of Approval by the Dove Foundation (www.dove.org) as well as the Kids First! Endorsement and top honors at The KidsFirst! Awards for Best Independent Feature Ages 12-18, is hailed as a wonderful family film. When I Find the Ocean follows the journey of a little girl (Lily Matland Holly) who sets out to find the ocean. Escaping from a dangerous secret and leaving an otherwise loving home filled with her mother and grandparents, Lily sets out with her beloved dog and rabbit to find peace with her father, who died at sea. Set in 1965 Alabama during a time of immense prejudice and civil unrest, Lily confronts a new set of obstacles along the way after she is befriended by a tugboat captain.The film also stars Lee Majors, Diane Ladd, Graham Greene, George Lindsey, Natalie Canerday and Amy Redford among others. Tonya S. Holly wrote and directed the film.
