This episode we return to women in racing and introduce additional names that I do not want to leave out. These women have made contributions to motorsports and have been instrumental in its continuation for respect in the sport of motor racing. Elyshia and I discuss NHRA Drag Racing and how it relates to the inclusion of female race car drivers their highly notable accomplishments.

We provide our thoughts as to decisions that women have to make when it comes to relationships and distractions that could compromise the end goal. There have been and will continue to be major hurdles that women will have to overcome, but we both feel at some point in the near future we will see a dynamic ultra competitive women enter the pinnacles of motorsports.

Thank you for the mention and kind words of my mother, Sharon Bishop. In regards to a couple statements I can provide a little more detail. She started racing by driving powderpuff in Bruce's car but soon had her own car and was racing with/against him. Eventually they needed to go down to one car and mom won out as dad was the better mechanic. My sister and I were both very young when she started racing and literally grew up at the track. We were even trophy girls once at Tenino (I think) in our Easter dresses! I was 15 when she stopped racing. Elyshia I appreciated your viewpoint on motherhood. I don't think racing is the only career path that sees women making sacrifices within their careers to raise their children. But that's a completely different conversation! Derrike your family helped build our engines. If memory serves, the time you drove mom's car was because you blew your engine or transmission and were in the points running. Since mom was not in the points running that year they let you drive her car. I'm speculating that dislike for whoever you were in points running against may have contributed to the decision. Mom died in July 2021. It's nice to hear people's stories of her and my dad. Bruce would love to chat with you again sometime.
