In the United States, poverty has long been associated with individuals who lack a proper education or higher education degrees. However, recent studies have challenged this assumption, shedding light on a shocking reality within the higher education system. According to a study published by the American Federation of Teachers, nearly a quarter of adjunct or contingent professors working in American universities and colleges are living at or below poverty levels. Even more disheartening is the fact that many of these professors are forced to rely on public assistance to make ends meet.
