In the second installment of the WHO, ME? ENNUI? series, Maren and I take a closer look at Sofia Coppola's debut feature length film, THE VIRGIN SUICIDES. We discuss heavily about The Male Gaze and how Sofia manages to show the point of view of the teenage boys' obsession with the Lisbon Girls while also inserting the Female Gaze to give the Lisbon Girls individuality and a voice not heard in the book by Jeffery Eugenides. We also talk about the haunting qualities of the film and the insular world Sofia delves into that seems to reflect a lot of her earlier life.
