Thanatophobia is an extreme fear of death or the dying process. You might be scared of your own death or the death of a loved one. This is a level of anxiety that I, myself, have struggled with my entire life.
In my opinon, its not the actual case of death that people fear as much as the unknown of what happens after we die.
