CBC stayed with East St. Louis, but came up short in a 48-44 defeat that will go down as an all-time classic. St. Mary's and Kevin Coleman shutout and 40-ball Lutheran North while De Smet put the hammer down on Edwardsville after a rough first half. MICDS comes back from a 21-0 deficit to beat SLUH, while Fort Zumwalt North blew a 35-14 lead and lost to Battle in the last minute of the game. Duchesne, O'Fallon, Mascoutah, Parkway North, Summit, Timberland, and Union all start the season off with victories.
