Why is the immune system so important to a person with cancer? We all have cancer cells. If the immune system works properly, it will attack them before they cause trouble. If it's compromised in some way, cancer cells can grow out of control. Can it be rebooted to kill the cancer, and keep the patient cancer-free longer? Dr. Jeffrey Weber, H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, has documented exciting progress in immunotherapy (using our immune system to treat cancer with lower toxicity). Dr. Weber's research has included a variety of vaccine trials, adoptive cell therapy, T cell responses, and novel immunotherapy trials in melanoma patients. (We had some tech difficulty early in the interview, but stay with us...great info!) Joni Aldrich shows every day at 2:00 p.m. ET, www.W4CS.com (www.JoniAldrich.com)
