One of a string of hit songs written and performed by Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, "Good Hearted Woman" further elevated their status as icons of country music's outlaw movement. The song was first recorded by Jennings as the title track of his 1972 album but in 1975, he remixed it, adding vocals from Willie Nelson, plus a psuedo-crowd noise to give the song a live feel, for the album Wanted: The Outlaws!. Jennings' original version was a No. 3 country chart hit, while the duet version peaked at No. 1 on the country singles chart and No. 25 on the Hot 100.
