Michael Laidler was born and raised in Miami, Florida, by a single mother and his grandmother. With no father around, he had to learn how to lead himself before he learned how to lead others. He had to learn how to survive his surroundings, moving every year just to stay above water.

At the age of 19 years old, he entered the law enforcement industry as a police officer in Tallahassee, Florida. During his time, he became a Field Training Officer (FTO) and earned the Life Savings Award. At 23 years old, he shifted law enforcement agencies and became a Border Patrol Agent in Laredo, Texas. He was a member of specialized field units as well as a K-9 Handler. As he sought more challenging roles, he joined the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He held positions of increasingly greater responsibility to include Correctional Officer, Special Investigative Services Technician, Lieutenant, Special Investigative Agent and Employee Development Manager. Each of these roles developed he expertise as a law enforcement officer.

Today, he takes that experience and speaks on topics related to, Greatness Beyond the Badge: The Three Keys for Self-Awareness and Leading In the Trenches: The Battle To Retain Your People.
