While everyone was losing their mind over lightsaber duals, a hundred Imperial Star Destroyers, and Dark Rey, an important clue in the D23 Sizzle Reel for The Rise of Skywalker might have slipped past most fans. We’re going to try to figure out that red ribbon Rey is holding, and why it’s showing up all around the new canon. Plus, we’ll talk about some Hot Takes and more. Now that we’ve had a few days to review the D23 Sizzle Reel for The Rise of Skywalker, there’s a sequence within it that might indicate something very important. And even more, it’s connected to an experience at Galaxy’s Edge, and two novels recently released. Get ready, Reylos. We’re about to dig into this.
HOT TAKES!

JJ Abrams is talking about Rian Johnson and The Last Jedi. Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni keep hiding more and more easter eggs in The Mandalorian. And could the cave sequence in The Last Jedi hint at Mortis? It’s time for Hot Takes!

J.J. Abrams Says ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Didn’t Ruin His Plans for ‘The Rise of Skywalker’

There has been a ton of speculation regarding how J.J. Abrams will deal with the story developments from Star Wars: The Last Jedi. And for everyone who thought that Abrams had to fix or undo what Rian Johnson did with his Star Wars sequel in order to make the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ending work, think again. In a red carpet interview from The D23 Expo last weekend, J.J. Abrams said, despite what some fans think, The Last Jedi didn’t change anything about the trajectory of the story that the director envisioned when he started working on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Abrams told The Associated Press (via ET Canada): “The story that we’re telling, the story that we started to conceive when we did ‘The Force Awakens,’ was allowed to continue. Episode VIII didn’t really derail anything that we were thinking about."
The Mandalorian Is Bringing a Deep Cut Star Wars Creature Back to Live-Action

The more we hear about The Mandalorian, the more it feels like executive producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni made it their own personal Star Wars playground. Even seeing only a few brief minutes, we already know the show solves the mystery of Willow Hood’s ice cream maker, brings back IG bounty hunter droids in a big way, references the Star Wars Holiday Special, and god knows what else. The latest revelation is that the show will reintroduce another deep cut Star Wars alien. In an interview with MTV News, Favreau confirmed that The Mandalorian will have blurrgs. What are blurrgs? They’re two-legged, big-headed creatures that people ride or use for labor. Kind of like a super ugly horse of the Star Wars universe. Blurrgs first appeared in Ewoks: The Battle of Endor, which is not canon, but Filoni made them canon when he introduced them in The Clone Wars animated series. They’ve also appeared on Star Wars Rebels and in a few video games.
The Last Jedi's  'Clone Wars' Easter Egg May Hint at Rey's Arc in 'Star Wars 9'

While everyone has been understandably preoccupied with Rey’s vision in the The Last Jedi — what with the “Dark Rey” comparisons, visions of the future, and what it all means — another fan noticed an Easter egg that hasn’t been discussed enough: the hand gestures Rey makes in the vision look eerily similar to those seen on Mortis in the Clone Wars animated series. Redditor u/In_eyes_of_munin posted an image comparing the two and the similarities are really creepy. Rey showcases all three of the gestures and it seems to come naturally to her.
