The story follows the evolution of Saint Nicholas, a kindhearted 4th century Turkish bishop renowned for his secret gift-giving, into the immortal Santa Claus. After a life of charity, Nicholas retreats to an isolated northern cabin to woodcarve toys. One Christmas Eve he shelters two outcast toymaking elves, inspiring Nicholas to build a magical winter workshop.As Saint Nick covertly delivers handmade toys to needy children on Christmas Eve each year, his legend spreads until parents worldwide tell their kids about "Santa Claus." With help from Mother Nature's magic, Nicholas builds toy factories so his industrious elves can support enormous gift requests. The meticulous system of Santa's North Pole mailroom and factories comes to represent the holiday spirit.In an emotional final journey in 2022, Santa passes the torch to a gifted young head elf named Candy Crest, knowing she will continue generously spreading Christmas joy, wonder and kindness to children everywhere for centuries to come when he retires. The story captures Santa's origins along with the people, places, magic and lore that contribute to his eternal legacy.
