The awareness of being. When there’s more to life than looking at the clock on the wall. The presence of my forest here in south Charlotte, NC brings energy to the source and supply of required energy. On March 13, 2021 I wrote inside the forest. The words put on paper were a reflection of what had already been lived then compared to the present. It was one year and five days since first writing anything about the Coronavirus Covid 19. I had found truth. No longer denying the pandemic. Which in March of 2021 was interesting to come across. A new season was blossoming right there in front of the writer. Consumed by Covid for a year and it was time to look at the leaves on the trees in his present and see how the wintertime ugliness remained just like Covid 19. The little green on the trees in March allowed the writer to see the color as a representation of today’s frontline workers. Covid hasn’t budged on creating a disappearing act. There are still frontline workers during this wintertime ugliness. I remember vividly sitting in the forest in March of 2020. It was deathly silent. No planes in the sky and the highways were nearly empty. A year and five days later the writer put into his thoughts what it was like to be in a new season where the birds are back to being vibrant, the airlines are in motion and the highways are that roar in the distance. The wintertime ugliness remains but through effort and belief life continues to grow beyond the silence. I penned out these words a thousand times during the opening chapters of Covid, “Where is your God?” I kept questioning myself. Harshly! Where is your God? In all of this wintertime ugliness and you can’t locate the answer! Then one day inside the daily writing the lighter shades of green began to appear by simply writing, “I’m right here. Where are you?” The lesson learned in all of that wintertime ugliness can be summed up in one word. Guidance. In all of that doubt, fear and wintertime ugliness we were always being guided. No matter how loud the questions were asked and demanded to be heard there was always guidance. The awareness of being. It’s a lifestyle.
