Last week's Texas A&M system board of regents meeting was the last meeting for three members who were not re-appointed by Governor Abbott.

One of them, chairman Charles Schwartz, brought up some of what's happened during his six year term and what lies ahead.

Among other things, Schwartz wants to change the narrative of what makes a successful graduate.

The Houston lawyer also said it is time to start spending some of the tens of billions of dollars in endowment money.

Schwartz also called on the legislature to reconsider the addition of two new medical schools and Texas Tech's proposed veterinary school.

Schwartz and two fellow members from Houston, Morris Foster and Tony Buzbee, were presented resolutions thanking them for their service.

The governor's nominees, subject to confirmation by the state senate, are three Aggies. Jay Graham and Michael Plank of Houston and Mike Hernandez of Fort Worth attended all or part of last week's regents meeting in College Station.
