President Trump made an odd statement this week in defense of his decision to pull American support from allied Kurdish fighters in northern Syria, leaving them vulnerable to a Turkish offensive. The President said "they didn’t help us in the Second World War. They didn’t help us with Normandy." Kurds are a stateless group of people and not a monolith.
