"For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love." (2 Peter 1:5-7)
In this portion of Peter's letter to the persecuted church, he gives them a list of things that he knows will sustain them and help them be effective in ministry, even in the midst of serious trials and possibly even death. As I read through the list again, ask God to equip you with these things today so that you can not only see God at work in your life, but so you can display God's work in your life to those around you. Here it is: Faith, virtue, knowledge, self control, steadfastness, godliness, brotherly affection, and love. If you're weak in any of those areas, ask Him for help. He stands ready and able to help you. He's where the joy is!
