At the speeds of our modern technological reality, there is no natural presence.......there is no real movement from place to place, or from person to person.......there is no human scale. The message, the idea, or the person no longer moves from here to there; but all are simply, and suddenly present everywhere.......our physical bodies, with both soul and sprirt, no longer constitute either a controling or a limiting factor. When online, we are simultaneously here and there at the same instant.......we can be in two places.......two dozen places.......or two million places; there is no longer any difference.......there is no movement to or from; just a kind of simultaneity of being, without any real living presence. This is a new experience of being; this manifest separation from the body and its restraints.......and this new experience bears within it, not a new era in communications; but, instead, a new manifestation of metaphysical realities; eventually entailing the transformation of all users.......removing the basic ground that supports our individual unique identities; and forcing us to take a new identity in the group. The technological village is populated with these discarnate human beings who no longer exist as physical presences; instead the electronic or discarnate person has become simply an image or an information pattern, nothing more.
The question that remains is whether we can find, in this mode of being, any form of transcencence that is not digitized or downloadable.
The crossings or hybridization of life with technology has released great a new force, and energy, as by fission or fusion. Hybridizing with our technology does not splice the two together, but creates a third.......a type of chemical marriage of the alchemists, wherein, by today's understanding, it is a union of both social and individual patterns. This union develops its own patterns that attempt to conform to the new Nature that we are creating.......one might even say that this is how man is trying to regain the Garden.......by re-creating it within his own new paradigm.
