President Biden has announced the creation of a commission to study expanding the Supreme Court beyond its current nine members. The last president to consider such an action was President Franklin D. Roosevelt who tried to add six more justices in 1937 but was thwarted by his own party who called it absurd overreach. Liberal icon Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg called the idea bad and partisan and just last week progressive Justice Stephen Breyer gave the same warning.
