A 55 year old Bobby Riggs played against a 29 year old Billie Jean King in the 1973 'Battle of the Sexes'. For some reason this is still hailed as a triumph for feminism and the feminist movement. Why? Bobby Riggs was a 55 year old former tennis player, well past his prime. And besides, a few months earlier he'd trounced Margaret Court, the then #1 women's player in the world.
