Kat will talk about the many reasons traditional mental health treatments such as talk therapy and pharmaceuticals are inadequate to address complex PTSD. She will discuss why negative experiences with practitioners in multiple different treatment settings were so detrimental to her recovery. Kat will introduce an alternative view of mental illness widely accepted by African cultures: that those suffering are "healers trying to emerge."
