Bet that debt forgiveness will backfire if they do it. If I lived poor for a decade (while working, after college) to pay my debts, then finally am free of them as I hit my late 30's or 40's, am I REALLY going to want to pay higher taxes for others to be free of THEIR debts? I don't think so.
