I listen to talking Snooker quite often Particularly after the world championships. I agree with Phil and Nick The world championships this year was the most joyous, exciting, exhilarating world championships that there is ever been. And that's an incredible statement to make given the fact that the great Ronnie O'Sullivan didn't win the event. But these world championships had more storylines that were extraordinary beginning in the first round with Sijahui defeating Sean Murphy, Robertson's multiple 146 breaks and his exit to Jak Jones in the second round. Luca Bracel's amazing breaks against Mark Williams to withstand Mark's fight back from 8-11 down to- 11 each. Both Mark and John Parrot picked him as a possible winner of the championship at that stage and they were both right. To defeat Mark Selby, Mark Williams and the greatest of them of all in O'Sullivan is simply incredible. Add to that two 147's; the first ever in a final is just wow. Luca Bracel, Si Jahui and Selby delivered the greatest story ever told at the Crucible. It was all so unexpected and just fantastic to watch. I had backed Selby to lift his fifth world title, but cashed out my bet when Selby had a 16-10 lead over Mark Allen in the Semifinals. Because Bracel's swashbuckling comebacks, and shot making and lack of reverence for the traditional and expected safety tactical mind games; deserved a new champion and one that wrote most of that exillerarting script. Ronnie, Hendry and Selby said the Belgian deserved his victory because he played the game with instinct flair and bravado that even the greatest of them all (the Rocket) had to stand back and proactively and graciously admire. Let’s not forget Si Jahui inspired introduction on the biggest stage is likely to have another chapter as well. Not to mention O’ Sullivan’s quest for an incredible 8th is definitely a story set to continue. Whew…
